Content for Africa by Africans
About 3 months ago I attended the ICTExpo organized by ICTVillage, the event was quite interesting with a wide range of presentations including one from Google. It was during that event that the permanent secretary in the ministry of information and communication, Dr.Bitange Ndemo made a very important point concerning content, he said “the biggest challenge we have right now is the issue of locally produced content..we need content providers..”, once he finished a lady from South Africa informed him that they had a large amount of content from the space observatory which they were willing to offer for free, her offer was eagerly accepted. I left the event racking my brain over the need for quality local content and how I could play a major part of that process.

Methodology : Exploring entrepreneurship in a declining economy
A sample of 160 entrepreneurs located in different parts of Borno State in the North Eastern part of Nigeria was randomly selected from a list of small businesses furnished by the Ministry of Trade and Industry. The ministry is the main agency responsible for registering small and medium enterprises and addressing issues related to their development in the state. Since the focus of this study was on business start-ups after the economic decline had began, only those entrepreneurs who had started their businesses after 1983 qualified for inclusion in this study.

Suffering from Information Marketing Overload
TMI really is Too Much Information sometimes. In a world overflowing with more information we could possibly process let alone implement, it makes me wonder – do I really need to know all of this in order to be successful? How much information does my prospect base need to know as well? When is enough, enough – or too much information – way too much information?

A New Kind of Resolution for Uncertain Times
“The significant problems we have cannot be solved at the same level of thinking with which we created them.” (Albert Einstein) At this time of economic crisis, there is a tremendous pull towards making decisions built on a model of data analysis and information gathering. We are, after all, in the Information Age … that period of our history in which there's been a global focus on the manipulation of information. Despite our intelligence and despite the wealth of information available, we seem to have hit a wall on the information highway. Something’s not working. In fact, it sometimes seems that nothing is working.

The Delicate Balance Between Yes and No
As a leader, I prefer to say yes. I love when our staff comes to me with a proposal for a new ministry or a new expenditure and I can simply say, “Yes, go for it!” I love being the guy who gets to encourage another person’s big dream. I am not a fan of micro managing. Saying yes allows me to empower others to do their work well.

Making Companies Thrive Today
I’m an observer and I read a lot. Why would a pastor care about such things? Frankly, some days I miss the business world and so thinking about it keeps me connected. Plus, much of my ministry is to people who live in this world every day, so keeping up with it makes me a better minister to them.

I Can't Make Money - Will You Give Me Some?
It seems that every day I hear from someone who is starting another non-profit business or ministry and wants me to contribute money. And along with that, there is usually the implication that the non-profit has a higher calling and Godliness than any business that makes money could possibly have. Do you really think that just because an organization lists itself as non-profit that they are doing work that is more worthwhile than a regular for-profit one?
