3 Common Causes of Corporate Strategy Misalignment
| |
| A recent artcile on corporate strategy covered the symptoms of corporate strategy misalignment. As discussed, a properly aligned corporate strategy will align strategic goals with the operations and execution tactics necessary to fulfill the organization’s desired outcomes. With a well-aligned corporate strategy, the entire organization – both internally and externally – will move in the same clearly-defined direction. Left to its own devices, a strategy that is misaligned will result in operational initiatives that are out of sync with strategic goals, missions that drift operationally off course, and chaos that compounds into serious consequences.
Now it’s time to consider the causes of corporate strategy misalignment. |

The Secret to network-marketing success lies within yourself
| |
| Have you spent years believing that your success in the network-marketing business depends on the product you're selling, a marketing system that will diminish your work load or an amazing compensation plan? Consider having the most sought after product in your possession, will you become wealthy? Of course not because unless your product is marketed properly to the world it will be as worthless as sitting in your driveway. If you choose the best company to join, with the most effective marketing system this doesn't mean you will be automatically successful. Why? The answer is simple. Your success depends on you and you only.

Welcome to the First Day of the Rest of Your Life
| |
| No one said life’s rules would be easy to live by, but there is something you can do to help you through the peaks and valleys. You can create your own rules to live by. Your first rule would be to get out of your own way so you can begin to see and live the type of life you ought to be living. Your second rule would be to make a solid commitment to yourself to never look back only forward and your third rule would be to believe in yourself making it impossible for anyone or anything to deter your missions. |

Building a Leadership Team - Part 1
| |
| Talent is necessary for building a winning leadership team, but talent is not sufficient. You can recruit the very best in every functional area of responsibility in your organization, but unless they work well together, you will fail to create sustainable value. And in a competitive environment, you will lose to teams with far less talent if they work well together but you don’t. There is a tongue in cheek axiom that comes as a corollary to this – “I’d rather be lucky than good.” If you believe in blind luck, go with God and stop reading. If you believe we make our own luck, I’d like to share three principles for creating a great leadership team and some practical insights into each: agreement on the mission, clear communication, and balance.
Pat1 = Agreement on the mission. |

Are YOU Walking The Talk?
| |
| When you create vision and mission statements for your company you are communicating to your customers, vendors, prospects, employees, and the entire outside world. When we create these visions and missions, we are creating value statements, and as an owner or manager you have to deliver, with those values, results! I like to call that “Walking the Talk”. There is no doubt that companies that consistently “Walk their Talk” do better than those that don’t. |

BOOK REVIEW: Finding Our Way: Leadership For an Uncertain Time (By Margaret J. Wheatley, Berrett-Koehler, 2005, ISBN #978-1-57675-317-0)
| |
| Finding Our Way challenges us to see the enterprises we lead in new light. It presents our organizations as living, substantially self-organizing systems of interacting human beings, not elaborate machines. Tools such as performance standards, metrics, missions, goals, project plans and job descriptions can certainly guide and influence employee behavior but they cannot force it or control it. This reality can frustrate the control-oriented manager. Wheatley offers several strategies to lead effectively in such systems. |

24 Words That Will Change Your Business
| |
| Chicago in 1932 was a mess. The Great Depression had a firm grip on the city. Businesses failed one after the other and people lined up outside missions to get bread or soup as their only meal of the day.
At the Club Aluminum Products Company, things were dire. The seller of a new and expensive line of cookware, the company had seen its high pressure, door-to-door sales pitches declining in effectiveness. |

Business ADD/ADHD
| |
| This definitely sounds like what business people suffer from when we attempt to accomplish our daily missions. It seems anything and everything occurs and comes to mind when we settle down and begin our day. At that very moment the world is filled with crisis and we must consider what should be done. Our attention is drawn away form our goals and agendas and we run to the farthest extent of our minds. |
