Creativity, Innovation -- Making the Mind Struggle
Bet you're looking forward to next weekend like there's no tomorrow! Labor Day weekend is a great time to unwind, shed the stress, strain, anxiety of your workday world. Of course you won't shed it all...you'll check email, you'll carry your phone with you. Well we'll add a little more to the load you're carrying. There are signs that the U.S. (it is our holiday after all) is losing its creative lead. There are problems, there are issues, there are opportunities on a global basis. Creativity isn't exclusive of any country, any company, any individual. Think about it -- as you relax with a cold one next weekend. Creativity isn't lost because it starts with ... YOU!!!!

Mobile Marketing 101
Although we’re trend watchers, we’re not bandwagon jumpers. We don’t seek to build things just because they’re popular. We build things that make sense for our clients. Still, when a tidal wave is coming (or arguably already here) we have to chime in. So here’s a pocket guide to marketing to your pocket.

The Tie That Binds…Mobile Ads to In-Store Signage Messages
Now that we're running around with our smartphones and have the ability to identify where there's a store with just the products we want and watch TV on our handset, it's only natural that on-line ads will start hitting hard and fast. The challenge will be making them palletable for the consumer. But that only gets them in the door. Next we'll see solutions that deliver controlled messages in the last two feet...just before you buy. The technology and the solutions are out there. All the industry has to do is ensure they make it a pleasant experience for the consumer. It will be a "little" tough and a "little" crude during the early stages but closure with the consumer will arrive...sooner than you think.

Product/Service Recommendations, Support…More Than You Want to Know
You have to love today's social media. Ok you don't have to love it because there is so darned much of it and it has empowered people. Problem is some people just shouldn't be empowered. Heck some should have their computers unplugged and their smartphones confiscated. But sites and blogs have done an excellent source of how-to (how-to install, how-to use, how-to fix, how-to replace, how-to get action) information. So if a company's support group is a little slow in responding, only following what their support check list tells them or speak in tongue there are people out there who can help. Use Bing (Google is so yesterday!) and find the answers. Just don't Tweet because someone might send you classified documents.

Netbooks…The Easy Way to Sell More Service
It sounds almost too good to be true -- a cheap computer you can use/carry everywhere, never have to upgrade the operating system or your apps, with a battery that lasts for ... well a long, long time. Sounds great except we end up leaving all of our work in the beautiful white clouds. The clouds move. We forget which cloud has our stuff and how we get in. Worse, there's a **** storm in the cloud just as we want to get in. Yeah...who knew what grandpa taught our little Miss Sunshine while we were out of the room?? Guess we may end up with yet another device to take along... convenience sure is getting heavy!!!

Hot Selling Devices Spell Great Insecurity Opportunities
OMG your iPhone tracks your movements. Well yes your Android does to and the wireless companies and Homeland Security and Facebook and Google and Mom, Dad and ..... How do you think you get those neat coupons when you walk by the store? How do you think your phone service knows how to deliver a call or your email server to deliver your spam. You probably can't remember the last time you were alone...really alone. Sure you thought so but you silly boy/girl ! Getting off the grid is getting even more difficult. Sometimes it's a bad thing but overall well just don't get paranoid...you're really boring to follow.

A Bad Idea Isn’t a Strategy, Just a Bad Idea
Everyone said netbooks were going to kill notebooks – cheaper, lighter, longer lasting battery, cloud connected. Then the tablet was going to kill the netbook and the notebook was OK. Now the netbook – renamed – is going to be the cheap, anywhere solution because everything will be in the cloud…and everyone. Yep hackers, phishers, whackers, malwarers and that’s where you want us to put our everything.? Malware hit an all-time high last quarter and it's doesn't look like anyone has a quick fix for keeping the mean, greedy away.

Virtual world calls for virtual money
Money - or lack of it - causes the most stress for individuals and family problems. But since we're now dealing in a near virtual world let's simply go to mobile device money and do away with the billfold that's either half full or half empty. Ironically, people in third-world countries have been faster to convert to mobile money than those in industrial countries. The challenges? Infrastructure and security. Someone always wants to spoil the party but the transition is underway.

Tap-n-Go is Good for Everyone But Consumers, Retailers
We just got back from holiday and discovered we had lost/misplaced a billfold we use solely on vacations. It had my scuba diving cards, really old family pictures, couple of hundred in it...nothing traumatic but still a pain. Telco folks have an answer for that turn your smartphone into a mobile wallet. We've "lost" more phones than we have billfolds. You can pick someone's pocket but can't sit across the street and hack it. But who is the mobile wallet going to benefit? Banks will get their money faster, mobile service folks will get a cut, stores buy new equipment that will be "temporarily" out of service, you can whip by the cashier faster to get back to your Facebook page or Twitter feed...whee!!!!

Sharing the Cost of Mobile Speed, Content
Ok every device manufacturer, every service provider (around the globe) is hot to trot to ensure they get their unfair share of your mobile device, content, service dollar (or respective currency). Heck in a year or two we'll even have all the bandwidth to provide the level of service you expect and they're promising. Sure folks are talking about a ton of professional video but it will be a lot of personal/family photos/video across the bandwidth. As they say the service will be good and sure it's a little expensive. That's where mobile advertising comes into play and man agencies/companies are all over a targeted way of reaching/influencing you like a bear on honey. They're moving fast to beat each other to the finish line. Some will never finish the race...so which ones will you bet (invest) your money on?
