Be Thankful For Holiday Spending?
Most of us have already felt the pain of holiday spending. We are immersed in a society which thrives on the commercialization and merchandising of holidays. Are we expected to feel good about putting ourselves further into debt? Are we to be thankful for spending money on others that we really don't even have to spend on ourselves? How can we find what there IS to be grateful about? Where do we look? The answer is; NOT FAR.

Depression
February is considered the most depressing month of the year. The festivities of the holidays are over and there is no break in the weather for what seems like forever! This combination of decreased sunlight and bitter weather conditions helps manifest depressive feelings in many people.

6 Great Ways to avoid Cold Calling
This year I have been cold calling to raise new appointments, I also have at my disposal an experienced tele seller, can you guess the results? It's grim reading, we have had to raise the white flag in surrender, if we had to rely upon cold calling to get new business, we would not get any business, well maybe a little bit, but not enough to make your target. So the next time someone, well that would be your boss, tells you to get on the phone, suggest the following strategies.

Avoid Becoming Victim of a Recession
There is a lot of discussion right now about whether there is going to be a recession. The scare-mongers are in full swing and stress levels are rising for the many business owners that are buying into the stories. If a recession does in fact happen, it doesn’t need to have any affect on your business – just as long as you choose to be proactive, take responsibility for your own business and take the appropriate actions. In fact, your business can still grow.

Making a Fresh Start
"How could that be?" I muttered silently as I reread the message. This was not a person I wanted to encounter as I returned from a holiday vacation filled with family, friends, and fun. And yet, there he was on my calendar. My first meeting of the New Year was scheduled with my nemesis.

Feedback Say it Somehow
It’s January and I can’t help remembering it as a time of angst when I worked in Corporate America. This was the time that people were spending hours writing up their accomplishments for the previous year. Managers it seemed only remembered what happened in the last month or two. Evaluations were done on a year’s worth of work. If you wanted your manager to remember the many good things you did earlier in the year, he/she needed to be reminded!

“End of Year Thoughts From Your Strategic Thinking Business Coach”
As we enter the month of December each year, we often wonder where the year has gone, how quickly it has passed and what we did or did not accomplish. He end of each year finds us thinking about holidays, gifts, parties and friends, as well as the closing out of another business year. The end of the year is a time to look back on the previous year and look forward to the next. And while reflecting on the past year, a strategic thinking business coach would like to suggest that you take time to remember and to give thanks for the great things that happened in your business. And to build on all of the positive things that you accomplished this past year and carry that positive momentum into next year.

Sales team Productivity 20 per year
It’s that time of year again and this newsletter is about two of my clients. One is creating capacity in his sales team to meet the challenges of the New Year – and the other – is writing a compensation plan to change behaviour to meet the challenges of the New Year. There is a cliché that says that you shouldn’t expect better results if you continue to do the same things – do the above points sound like last year? Our newsletter this month is about doing things differently.

Concrete Resolutions
January is usually the month when people make resolutions for the new year they are about to embark on. We review and take account of what was done the previous year and what was not done; what we did accomplish or not accomplish.

End of Year Thoughts From Your Strategic Thinking Business Coach: Looking to Success in 2009 and Beyond

Why Do We Not Need Health Care Reform?
Last year I wrote an article about consumer driven health care and I told the story of a woman who paid over $300 per month to insure herself and her teenaged child. She required dental surgery that would take several iterations, but was not able to finish the process because she could not pay the $3000.00 bill. So the world turned and a year later she finds herself working for this very same insurance company, and guess what? She only pays $20 a month for her coverage. There is a saying that came to mind when I heard about that "somebody is buying you wholesale and selling you retail". I mean seriously people, if the insurance company employees can pay only $20 per month for coverage, why are you and I paying upwards of $300.00? What the heck are we paying for exactly?

High Goals, Outstanding Performance and Success
Successful people are outstanding performers. Outstanding performers are goal oriented. They set high goals, and do whatever it takes to achieve them. Then they set higher goals and do what they must to achieve them. They do this day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year. If you want to become an outstanding performer, you need to constantly challenge yourself by setting high goals. Aim high, and you'll be surprised at what you can accomplish.

Who knows what year it is anyway?
The last day of the liturgical year is the Saturday before the First Sunday of Advent. In 2009 this was Saturday, November 28. Do you know when it is in 2010? What does Fiscal Year-End Mean? The completion of a one-year, or 12-month, accounting period. A firm's fiscal year-end does not necessarily need to fall on December 31, and can actually fall on any day throughout the year.

Home Business Resolution = More Organization
As the New Year approaches most home business owners are thinking about goals for the next year. Often January is considered the "get organized" month or even the "get caught up" month. This year make sure your business is organized by getting in gear in the new year.
