Local Store Marketing- A Process
| |
| If I can impress one key thought on a restaurant operator with regard to Local Store Marketing- it is this...
...Local Store Marketing must become a process NOT an event.
By way of example, a trip to one high school to setup a fundraiser, only to have 12 people show up does not indicate that fundraisers are useless. That action only indicates that one attempt failed. A better approach is to attempt 3 fundraisers every month.
The law of averages will favor the process.
Most restaurant operators that struggle market out of negative emotions, they react and engage in random events of marketing madness that they hope will result in a home run.
Plan multiple Local Store Marketing tactics for the year. Settle for base hits each month and you'll sleep like a baby. |

Baby Boomers - Business should be Booming for you!
| |
| If you were born between the years 1946 and 1964 then you are classified as a baby boomer, although you are closer to death than infancy. This is the biggest generation of entrepreneurs at the moment. This generation has guts, drive, motivation, determination and persistence. They are frantically working towards a dream retirement and nothing is going to stop them.
At the moment baby boomers make up about 27% of the population, and about 70% of baby boomers own their homes. This just goes to show that this must be one of the hardest working generations of our time. |

Consignment --- A Sales Adventure
| |
| Once upon a time, many years ago when I was a young, ambitious salesman selling flat, rolled steel, I called on one potentially large account for months and months with zero success. I was going nowhere fast. The only thing I got from this rather large, burly looking professional purchasing agent was frustration. He knew I was young and short on experience and, I believe he actually enjoyed watching me squirm month after month. I tried every sales technique I had ever learned. Of course, he was familiar with every one of them and had seen them many times before. Nothing seemed to work on this guy. I just couldn't reach him. So, I went back to something very basic that most of us in sales (especially we Baby Boomers) learned from day one. I remember the words from my most cherished mentor, "Build a relationship son. Get the man to like you |

The Two Key Components to Living with Tenacity
| |
| Tenacity is a key component to success. We must have it to reach our goals. It’s the fuel that keeps us moving through the inevitable challenges. But how often do we take the time to stop and think about what tenacity really is? Let’s spend a minute to figure out what tenacity looks like and how we can create it to use to our advantage.
When I’m working with clients I often use the analogy of getting your screaming baby strapped into a car seat to illustrate tenacity. Because, if you have kids, you have experienced tenacity! When you are putting your child in their car seat your purpose is to make your baby safe. Your baby hates to feel confined and wants nothing to do with it. You can not reason with a baby or explain your logic so you must just make it happen. |

Kaiser Permenente - User Submitted Health Plan Reviews
| |
| I currently have Kaiser Permenente's health insurance. Kaiser is the preferred provider for my husband's work, who carries the health insurance for our family. I do not care for the insurance program. Firstly, it is expensive. For a family of 5, we pay approximately $500 per month in premiums. Secondly, the co-pays are high. To visit the doctor it costs anywhere from $30-$50, depending on the type of doctor being seen. I recently had a baby, and while the regular visit co-pay was cheaper at $15 per visit, I had to pay the $15 co-pay every time I was seen. Near the end of my pregnancy, I was having some complications and was being seen up to twice weekly. During the last month, I amassed over $100 in co-pays for obstetrical care. With Kaiser's program, I also feel more like a number than an actual person. The quality of care is comparable |

3 critical elements of a research survey. Part 2 – Does the sample size really matter?
| |
| There are two hospitals: in the first, 120 babies are born every day, in the other, only 12. On average, the ratio of baby boys to baby girls born every day in each hospital is 50/50. However, one day, in one of those hospitals twice as many baby girls were born as baby boys. In which hospital was it more likely to happen?

Hoping For A Meaningful Change
| |
| Babies are helpless little critters who need their forebears to take care of every aspect of their lives. Mom and Dad need to feed the baby, clothe the baby, bathe the baby, shelter the baby, teach the baby, and save money so they can educate the baby and help the baby get a good start in life. And regularly, when the baby (who can't do ANY of this for himself) gets stinky, he needs Mom and Dad to change his smelly pants.... |
