Slow Down to Make MORE Money
If you are sick of twittering till your thumbs fall off, facebooking and blogging until you have a headache, and networking neurotically, you have to read this article! I can't tell you the number of entrepreneurs I speak to who will tell me all they are doing to "chase success" and then ask, "What else should I be doing?" While I admire their stamina, the truth is that their schedules are already staggering. They already have so much going on, it made me tired just listening to it! But we are ALL busy these days. And if we are NOT experiencing success, doesn't it make sense that we should ADD something to the equation? Not always. Sometimes (most of the time) MORE is simply too much! Sometimes (most of the time) we need to slow down... to make more money, to accomplish more, to succeed wildly!

Should you join a networking group?
Someone told me a couple of years ago that there were over 300 networking groups in the UK each with their own networking events – who knows what the situation is right now? So, should you join a networking group and if so, which one would be the best for you?

Working from Home and Word of Mouth
I’m often asked about how to best generate referrals and develop word of mouth for those who are running their businesses out of their homes. Let me start out by stating that I ran two home-based businesses for many years. Working from home has its own unique rewards and challenges. As one of my businesses grew, they began to take over the house and I was forced to move the business out (so that a new baby could join our family). During the eight years I worked from home, I learned a great deal about the pros and cons of working from home and how it related to my networking efforts.

Educating Vs Selling
When entrepreneurs try to develop a qualified, consistent, and dynamic circle of networking partners who are going to provide them with referrals for new business, I’ve noticed that their tendency is to “sell” those individuals on their product.

Diversity and Networking
Question: I recently visited a networking group but, I’m hesitant to join because it is mostly made up of small business owners and sales people. I think it would be better to join a networking group of business-to-business professionals who I can relate to better and who are looking for the same type of contacts that I need. What is your opinion?

LaserSharp Networking
Did you know that the energy put out by a normal light bulb is equal to the energy put out by a laser beam? A laser has a very tight beam and is very strong and concentrated. A light bulb, on the other hand, releases light in many directions, so the light is comparably weak and diffuse. The difference between the two allows the laser, with focused energy, to have the power to do very fine and delicate surgery, artistic etching and play the broad, full sounds of an orchestral overture. Does that sound like the kind of precision you want from your networking activities? I've found that there are three ways to bring your networking efforts into laser-sharp focus to make it an even more powerful way to build your business:

CONNECTING IS NOT ENOUGH: The Networking Journey……How networking has changed and where it is heading
May saw me celebrate a ten-year anniversary. On 11th May 1999 I started work for Business Referral Exchange, then a new networking organisation founded six months previously and with just four groups running in London, Hertfordshire and Essex. At the time networking as a formal activity was little known in the UK, with a few independent groups supplementing the networking offered by Chambers of Commerce and community groups such as Rotary. How times have changed! Networking is now a key activity for millions of small business owners across the World and, with the rise of social online networks, is being recognised as a key skill for everyone, from jobseekers to global corporates.

Networking for women- what's the point?
Most business women are familiar with the term "old boy's network," an exclusive network of business men who can call in a favour from their exclusive group to help close a deal, get new business or progress in their career. There is no reason why women can't do the same. They can achieve this by making it part of their career strategy to join networking groups that can further their career or connect with the right business people. From specific association networks to broad business groups, there are so many opportunities for business women to network, but does networking actually work? In my experience, the answer to that question is a resounding YES.

Intro to Social Networking
Social networking can be described as a gathering or ‘networking’ of individuals into to specific groups, like a community or a neighborhood, usually based on existing relationships (family and friends) or common interests. Social networking can take place in person, especially in schools, in the workplace, or at social events, but with the advent of the internet and the ability to reach millions of people at once, social networking is most popular online.

It Takes A Village
Social Networking as you probably know has become the number one on-line activity. Savvy business owners are connecting with customers on social networking sites in a variety of ways and forming core customer groups that can be marketed to. These customer groups are also a source for unsolicited feedback and testimonials so developing, nurturing and effectively utilizing them can yield steady business.

Peer Groups: A Networking Goldmine
Methods to Transition and Grow Many people tend to think of networking in terms of attending events with a large number of people or building relationships on an individual basis. In fact, some of the most powerful networking happens while participating in small gatherings such as peer groups.
