How to Cure Your Marketing Headache
Many times business owners get stuck when it comes to marketing because they feel uncomfortable doing it. They are afraid of being seen as pushy, intrusive, or fake. What if you could change the way you think about marketing by connecting to your true intention for doing it in the first place?

Lesson #4: Stop Chasing a Lost Cause
If one thing above all else could be said about Luce it is that he was an ambitious man. No matter what the task at hand, Luce hated to lose. Indeed, his parish priest described Luce as “a man of unlimited imagination who reveled in hard facts; one who could be gruff with the mighty and relaxed with little children; a thinker who could see all sides of a question and yet make a quick and implacable decision. To talk with him was to shift the mind into high gear, for his was never in neutral.”

Carbon Offsets: Creating Something Real from Hot Air
You’ve probably heard about carbon offsets. They’re everywhere these days, and it seems not a week goes that I don’t hear about a company pledging to go carbon neutral. And yet, it all seems so…full of hot air. What’s real? What do they really do? Which will make the most impact? How are the different purveyors, well, different? I have a suggestion: Take a look at LiveNeutral. This non-profit gives you a direct path to making a tangible, tax deductible difference, and can educate your company staff as well, deepening the positive impact.

E-Mail Tip #27 - Keep an Open Mind
If we prejudge the notes we read, it will reduce the effectiveness of communication. We need to approach all communication from a posture as neutral as possible. This is especially true with e-mail communication. This article gives some examples why this is the case.

Creating a Common Goal for any Conversation
First impressions often make the difference in getting the job or getting the sale. Similarly the first few seconds of an important conversation set the tone for how the rest of the conversation is going to proceed and very often has a significant impact on the outcome. Knowing the most effective way to begin important conversations, at home, in business or in a civic setting, is critical to your success. We believe there are three critical elements that must be present to be a truly effective opening statement – your confidence, an invitation to neutral and an acknowledgment of the listener as the decision-maker. Let’s take a closer look at each element.

pH Testing in Hydroponics Explained
First off - what is pH? It stands for the rather cumbersome potentiometric hydrogen ion concentration. Simply put, it is a measure of the acidity or alkalinity of a solution. The pH scale is from 0-14 and pure water has a neutral pH of 7. Anything that would be considered acidic is rated lower than 7 and anything considered alkaline is rated higher than 7. Pretty simple.

Shifting from “N” (Neutral) to “D” (Drive)
What does it mean to be “stuck in neutral” in life? Here are a few signals and solutions.

Impact and Influence in Action – Where Are They With This Issue?
Negotiation is, or should be, about reaching a wise outcome to a situation which needs resolution. The nature of any negotiation is that, at the start, there are differences. To have lasting impact and positively influence the outcome you need to understand what the differences are. In a way you could be the least qualified person to do this - you may not even want to hear things which will obstruct you in getting what you want. Just like waiting at traffic lights you need to engage neutral for a time and get out of the gear marked “Drive”.

Don't Drag a Dead Horse
In "Transitions, Making Sense of Life's Changes" by William Bridges, the transitions of life have three distinct stages (Endings, Neutral Zone and Beginnings). Bridges states we have a life time of transitions. However, it is very important to understand that before you can begin a new phase of your life, you must end the old phase. An ending is actually the first phase of the transition process and a precondition of self renewal. You must end before you can begin. Many times the endings are ones dealing with past experiences and thoughts. So don't drag a dead horse through the desert.

Bridges and Walls
Each time we interact with another person, we are given the opportunity to build a bridge or a wall. There are no neutral meetings among people. Each contact either builds up or tears down the relationship. Recently, I had the opportunity to have breakfast and lunch in the same hotel dining room on the same day. During breakfast, it was a bit crowded and the food was somewhat slow in coming; however, the waitress was polite, pleasant, and professional. She inquired about me and the purpose of my trip. She seemed to genuinely care. I was left with a very positive impression of what otherwise could have been a mediocre to poor experience.

Eradicating Mold Issues On Your Next Property
Many have made the mistake of trying to paint over molds only to find out that the water in latex paints only revives the organisms and it soon reappears through the new paint. The solution is a 10:1 bleach and water solution applied over any possible affected areas. Spray application is best. Before painting, though, all surfaces should be at a fairly neutral PH level. This means that you will want to rinse all bleached surfaces so as to get an acceptable substrate for paint. I generally treat with bleach prior to the standard pressure washing.
