What are the success habits that make up a great leader?
Election Day has come and gone. The president has been elected, and I would like to share something important with you. We're going to put aside the faults of both major candidates and talk about something more important. Leadership. Have you ever asked yourself “What are the success habits that make up a great leader and what can we learn from them?”

Unfair Dismissal under Federal Labor Government
As outlined in its policy announcement prior to the election, Federal Labor has proposed changes to the unfair dismissal laws. We expect that the new government will commence to enshrine these changes in legislation early next year. However, things are not certain.

Nigerian Government Creates $426m Microcredit Development Fund
Nigerian President Alhaji Musa Yar’Adua announced the creation of an N50 billion (the equivalent of over USD 426 million) microcredit development fund to be administered by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). The Effect of Elections on Small Business
Over the years I have closely observed small businesses on the lead-up to an election. There are some very clear business trends that smart small businesses need to know and work within. Elections also provide businesses with a money-can’t-buy education on the latest in marketing trends. Let’s start with the business trends. The most obvious is a business to government slow down – by that I mean in the lead up to an election the incumbent political party goes into caretaker mode and generally will not make any significant decisions or grant major contracts. If your business is one that relies on government contracts – you need to plan for this slow down to kick in at least 6 months before the scheduled election due period.

Yes We Can! The networking lessons businesses can learn from Barack Obama's successful election campaigns
Barack Obama's victories in both the Democratic Primaries and the Presidential election went against the predictions of many of the pundits. It's been widely discussed how Obama used social networks to an extent not previously seen. But how did networking in general contribute to his unexpected success?

Palms Shopping Mall, Changing Retail Distribution in Nigeria
South Africa owned, Nigerian managed 'The Palms Shopping Mall' launched in 2005 is a major contributor to changing retail distribution and ultimately the retail experience for Nigerians, particularly the growing middle class to affluent. The Mall's opening provided significant channels of distribution to allow manufacturers reach buyers who are ready and able to spend.

Creating Personal Success
Creating Personal Success ---- Every manager, every employee and every leader that has any drive at all strive to be successful. Success starts with self awareness. That means understanding your personal strengths and weaknesses. It also means having enough humility to work on those weaknesses. Both the Democrats and the Republicans were preaching change in the presidential election. I only mention that because I really like the buzz words --- "Yes We Can" that have been used by both campaigns during the Presedential election process.

Another Historic American Election
It seems like there's no story line that hasn't been done (to death) about today's U.S. election. But one that I've heard nothing about is that of parallels between this election and that of 150 years ago.

It's The Imaginary Economy, Stupid
It's a bit early, kind of, but the national media is really into this whole 2012 re-election campaign. And the eighty percent of national news personalities who tend to "lean forward" (possibly because it's much easier than trying to find and report actual facts) refer to it precisely as the "2012 re-election" because, well, they have determined that the president deserves your vote - again....
