RAMP UP YOUR BRAND - SLEDGEHAMMERS AND SERVICE BRAND PREFERENCE
By Mike Schultz and John Doerr Swing the Hammer Imagine the strongman game at the carnival. You lift the sledgehammer over your head and swing it down onto the platform. When it strikes the target, a metal cylinder rises up and up—20 feet up the pole until it rings the bell. On its way down the pole the cylinder passes the same words it passed on the way up: strongman, tough guy, athlete, junior, and weakling. In a way, establishing a services brand follows a similar process. You swing the hammer (your marketing tactics, the marketing mix you employ, and the quality of your company's services) and the strength of your efforts determine whether or not your brand moves up the pole and makes it to the top to ring the bell. The question is, “What stages must your brand pass through in order to ring the bell?”

Teleservices Business Process Outsourcing: Want to Go North or South?
Business process outsourcing of teleservices-lead generation, lead qualification and lead nurturing-generally goes in one of two directions: north or south. North is good. A best-practice teleservices firm closes the gap between marketing and sales to create sales-ready opportunities needed to drive revenue. South is not so good. Unfortunately, many companies have had negative experiences with teleservices firms that deliver so-called leads when they lack agreed-upon qualifying criteria. I would like to take this opportunity to differentiate between the two and to affirm the value of teleservices outsourcing when executed correctly.

Leaders Handle Performance Problems
A water bearer in India had two pots attached to each end of a pole. He would sling the pole over his shoulders to carry water from the stream to his house every day. One of the pots was cracked and leaked water. The other one was perfect. One day the cracked pot spoke to the water bearer about its shame and apologized for dripping water while the other pot never lost a drop. The water bearer replied to the pot, "Yes, you are cracked and do not carry water as well your brother pot. But you have an ability that he does not have.

Can you do that a little faster?

As an old farm boy I was fascinated so I picked their brains for some interesting information.
