Carrying a computer around with you used to be a sign of manhood. Then they became tolerable. Finally a fantastic work and fashion statement. Now we're at the point that you can put yours down and misplace it. They're almost as bad as your keys or USB flash drive.

You have to love today's social media. Ok you don't have to love it because there is so darned much of it and it has empowered people. Problem is some people just shouldn't be empowered. Heck some should have their computers unplugged and their smartphones confiscated. But sites and blogs have done an excellent source of how-to (how-to install, how-to use, how-to fix, how-to replace, how-to get action) information. So if a company's support group is a little slow in responding, only following what their support check list tells them or speak in tongue there are people out there who can help. Use Bing (Google is so yesterday!) and find the answers. Just don't Tweet because someone might send you classified documents.

2009 - A Year of Realignment, Reassessment, Repositioning
But people in the business/consumer computer/entertainment/communications industry have never been short on optomism or ideas. Looking up from what is near the bottom of the valley it is fairly obvious that it will be a long, hard trek back up to the top of the hill. Some firms won't survive by this time next year. Those that focus on developing a strong consumer centric strategy and lead/listen to the marketplace will be light years ahead of the competition when we enter 2010. What's it going to take? What will the the leaders do? We've got a pretty good idea...hope you agree. We know most have what it takes to survive and prosper!

Of course you hang on every announcement that comes out for the serious Apple tablet contender. A few with "some" promise but most ???? Hey tablet is killing every other technology out there. Well not for people who are buying and using the products today...but tomorrow??? Living in a technology bubble we forget what the real world -- yes the whole world -- has, understands, can afford. Don't feel bad if some in your family only have a featurephone and laptop or worse, desktop.
