Transforming HR and IT from “Wayward Children” to Drivers of Business Success
| |
| It is my belief that sound human resource (HR) and information technology (IT) practices are capable of driving organizational success. Yet my observation and experience indicate that far too many HR and IT departments do not even come close to realizing this capability. To the contrary, both areas often are viewed internally as obstacles to individual and organizational success that divert scarce resources from areas that do the “real” work.
What actions will you take today to stop these behaviors in your organization and support business success? |

Entrepreneurial Objectivity
| |
| For most of us, it's obvious that the bulk of the decisions we make on a daily basis are based upon the summation of our previous experience. Then
combined with some sort of reactive observation. “That looks hot, I once was burned, don’t touch it.” A rather simplistically calculated decision to a situation, correct? There are a lot of philosophical explanations to this phenomenon, (of which I have no desire whatsoever to regurgitate.) However, the idea of understanding, evaluating and augmenting our decision making process, is quite possibly one of the most effective, yet difficult things to do. |

Choices
| |
| The choice is yours. Question: Do you believe there is something you can specifically do in the next seven days that would make your personal, family and business life worse? Chances are good you did a double-take on that one and rhetorically responded, "What does he mean, 'make it worse'?" O.k., next question: Do you honestly believe there is something you can do in the next seven days that would make your personal, family and business life better? |

Accountability and Outcome is a Shared Responsibility in the RFP Process
| |
| It never fails to amaze me that given the amount of research which goes into the production of each PI Window on Business Show, there are always a number of new insights that come to light during the live broadcast. In fact this is one of the reasons why social media is so critical to the procurement profession, as it broadens the lens through which we can view a particular subject. |

Does industrial theatre really help learning?
| |
| When we look at corporate and adult training we find many frameworks and even many more products to choose from. One thing that we don't often find is a clear strategy and appreciation for the science and theory behind the chosen framework and style.
KOLB is regarded by many as the thought leader on the topic of modern experiential learning. His learning model, although not widely acknowledged, has become the most commonly used and or adapted of its kind. So much so that there is very little out there that is really new. Now we are discovering developments in our application of inductrial theatre that are growing from success to success.

Healthy Salespeople - Healthy Sales Results
| |
| As I have stated previously, sales is a demanding profession. Top performers know that to sustain a high level of performance, they need to keep fit and well - both physically and psychologically. They are self disciplined, self managed and take good care of themselves. You only have to look at them and know they are healthy. Their skin is clear, they have a vitality about them that is fresh, their attitude is positive and they are keen to learn.
What sort of sales culture do you encourage? Is it one of health and wellbeing or a boozy, extreme living on the edge culture? |

Don't Let Your Group Drink Dirty Water-Be a Leader
| |
| There is an Akamba, Kenya, proverb that says, "Syaasya ndongoi, inyusaa muuluu." This wise saying means when a herd of cattle lacks a leader, it ends up drinking dirty water. This saying is based on an observation in which the last herd to get to the water source finds the water has been made dirty by the ones that arrived before it.

Why create time to be alone

He talked about using the time alone to develop a personal life philosophy and then to check in with ourselves on a regular basis to confirm what is working and what isn’t working. |
