“How to Overcome Public Speaking Fears – Ten Strategic Tips From Your Strategic Thinking Business Coach”
When it comes to public speaking, do you welcome the opportunity or do you run for cover? Do you accept each chance presented or do you make up a long list of reasons to be excused from the task? If you answered NO to these questions, it is important for you to read this because public speaking presents some very positive development opportunities for you and there are things you can do to overcome your fears of public speaking. So what can you do if you do fear public speaking? Here are ten (10) strategic tips to overcome that fear and make public speaking easy.

Diagnosing Objections
Ever wondered why some objections are harder to overcome than others? Or the same objection is hard to overcome with one customer, but easy with next? Or are they all hard? You may have misdiagnosed the objection. Sales doctors tell us there are four types of objections, each one a little sicker than the other, but all are curable. The key is to diagnose correctly and apply the correct treatment.

Do You Feel Anxiety When Speaking?
There are hundreds and hundreds of articles around the Internet helping you to overcome the fear of Public Speaking. You may have seen some. And the vast majority help you overcome the fear of getting onto the platform, standing up and actually starting to speak.

First, Know Your Buffalo-Then Get the Right Spears!
You can never overcome a challenge, in your organization or in your personal endeavor that you have not identified. Using the wrong resources and/or strategies will not help overcome challenges, it could even make them worse.

Managing Resistance
How do I overcome objections? How do I handle “NO”? How do I deal with difficult people? At the beginning of our leadership development workshops, when we ask the participants what they would like to accomplish, these are by far the most popular responses. Many people seem programmed to think if they can overcome, handle or minimize negative points of view, then others will drop their resistance and the goals will be achieved. In other words the belief seems to be “If I prove my point, you will you drop yours.” Dean Rusk, the Secretary of State under President Kennedy exposed the futility of that logic when he said, “To me, the silliest argument in the world is, ‘If you knew what I know, you would agree with me.’”

Playing the Big R Game
What is one of people's greatest fears -- the fear of dying? Of public speaking? Spiders? The I.R.S.? Sure, many people share these fears, but the one I'd like to explore today I believe is larger than all of these put together. It's the fear of REJECTION -- the Big R. And while a lot of people in sales struggle to overcome this fear every day, no one is immune. Let's face it, one of our greatest desires is to be accepted and loved. And often times, being rejected feels like the exact opposite. So, how might we overcome this innate fear of rejection? How about a little 'purposeful play' to lighten the load. Here's a game I created over twenty years ago that served me well then and with a little modification, a number of other times.

What Financial Advisors Can Learn from Eli Manning
Following a series of confidential interviews with a broad sample of advisors in the firm, it became clear to me that many suffered from anxiety, because of the harsh market conditions and because of the president’s high performance expectations, but also because they harbored their own internal insecurities. I designed a series of training programs to teach the advisors how to recognize and overcome their fears, maintain an optimistic and proactive approach with their clients, use active listening skills, overcome stress and anxiety related to their job and ultimately lead to their clients directing new referrals to them. But the most important issue I helped these advisors overcome? You guessed it: impostor fear.
