| Product pages maintain considerable strategic importance for ecommerce websites. Your visitors enter your product pages not only with an intention to buy something (the most desired end action) but to also learn, research and compare what you have against a competitor. In addition to this, product pages also serve to help buyers find relevant pricing information, delivery costs, warranty and/or return policies and a whole lot more.
To be effective, your website must implement product pages that are able to satisfy each of your visitor's needs. But information isn't enough either. While providing necessary information, these pages must be convincing enough to entice your visitors to move through the purchase process -- on your site rather than on a competitor's website.

| With so many other ways to access information today, it should be no surprise that the effectiveness of directory books such as the Yellow Pages is on the decline. However they still are a main source of information for visitors in a hotel room, or users of public telephone booths. Some older age demographics also prefer them to other alternatives. It is expected that we will continue to see these familiar yellow books around for approximately 10 more years. So whether they are right for you really comes down to knowing the search habits of your ideal clients. |

| Those of you who are consistent readers of this regular offering, realize that I rarely recommend specific books. Instead, I encourage people to read those books that will help them in the pursuit of their own passion. However, recently I have completed both of Tom Brokaw's books dealing with the Depression and World War II era-The Greatest Generation and The Greatest Generation Speaks.
