I’m OK, You’re Not So Hot (personality types)

Personality typing is NOT about putting people in boxes. Every single human being is unique, there will never be another of any of us ever again. Not even our children are exact copies of us. They are bits of us for sure; bits of the other gender parent; a complex mix of where they were born (place); where in the family they were born; how they were brought up; what values they were taught; what religious and social teachings they were introduced to in their early years; where they were educated; what friends they chose in school, and a million other subtle influencers in-between. And each one of us, regardless of all of the above, also have that unique ingredient that is simply, us.

How to Create an Effective Microsite

A microsite is an individual web page or group of web pages which are used to support, enhance, or supplement the primary or parent website. The main difference between a microsite and the parent site is its focus on one main topic or theme compared to the broader scope of the parent site. Often, microsites are used to target new markets or to create focused content for niche audiences (sometimes geographic specific). Offering companies a chance to add value to their brand by informing, entertaining, engaging, and interacting, microsites can also be optimized with keywords for better search engine rankings and click through rates.

The Value of True Friendships

Everyone wants, and needs, friends-especially close friends. You can never say that you truly just want to be left alone, that you don't want or need to have any close friends. It's a Core Desire for human beings to interact with others-to like and be liked, to love and be loved. Close friends permit you to open up and have fun. They like and accept all the things that make you you-the good, the bad, and the ugly. True friendship allows you to feel safe with another person, to be accepted by others-in spite of the things you do wrong and in spite of your idiosyncrasies.

Keeping in Touch: How to Avoid Return to Sender

I've always been a big postcard sender and this vacation was no exception! Watching me write the cards, one of the friends with whom I was traveling, a woman in her 80's, mentioned how sad it is that she's lost contact with many of her friends over the past several years. She said she doesn't know if her friends are sick, have passed away, or moved, and she doesn't know how to find out.

Freelancing From Home with Small Children

| As wonderful as it sounds, working from home to spend more time with your children is more akin to torture at times. Not that you don't love that angel who needs to be held all but thirteen minutes of the day or the toddler who always manages to test his favorite crayon on the wall when you're trying to make a phone call, but there are unique challenges to trying to parent and hold down a career at the same time. It is possible to work from home with small children, but like so many things as a parent, this too shall require flexibility.

DON’T SPEAK TO ME LIKE THAT!

When your grown child has a child, he/she can automatically switch his/her own dynamics from child to adult to parent with all that it entails. This unfolds due to changing circumstances that a younger person is faced with on the road to full-fledged adulthood. When your child has a child, he/she is forced to step into another role whereas you stay in the same place, essentially. You become a grandparent but are not saddled with all of the responsibility of having to care for your own child. You continue to see your grown child as your child and perhaps not the parent that they’ve become, with all the angst and worry that comes with it.

Work-Life Balance Tip 17 - Put Friends Back into Your Life (Part One)

| Remember when you had friends? OK write the names of three friends down on a piece of paper.....oh....did I mention they can't be people that you work with? Why not? It's OK to enjoy their company but we need to get a life...balanced outside of work. And when was the last time you spent time with any of your friends?
When I did this exercise I realized how isolated I had become. With travel and work, school and sports events, one day lead to another. I had talked with but hadn't seen some of my dear friends in over a year!
Why don't we spend more time with friends? Most of us see entertainment as an expense of both money and work. Sure, if I invite people over to my home, it means I've gotta clean.
