Reframing - Objections
A frame provides a context or focus for your thoughts and actions. Changing the frame of an experience can have a major influence on how you perceive, interpret and react to that experience. Reframing is going on all around us

When Hiring A PR Firm Think Small
More and more companies are opting for small PR operations rather than large PR firms. The primary reason is cost. There are many one and two person shops who have the experience of senior-level PR pros, but don't have to charge the high fees because they don't have the high overhead. So why pay for your PR firm's fancy offices and get junior account executive experience when you can get a seasoned pro for less money. It just makes sense.

Being Organised Wins You More Business
My daughter is relocating to take up a job in London at the end of year which has proved to be a more traumatic experience for me, rather than her. ..... If you're a parent you'll know how it feels when one of your children leaves home. Of course it will be a great adventure for her, but for me and her father it's a bit scary. Living in another city is one thing, but relocating to another country... well that's even harder for her parents. ..... Anyhow, I won't ponder on this too long, but it's been an interesting experience. As Tia has to relocate herself with no help from her employer, it can be difficult if you don't know anyone there. So being a good networker and an organised person I've done 2 things.

Is Experience The Best Teacher?
It’s interesting to consider the wisdom of some expressions in common use these days. How about the phrase “Experience is the best teacher?” Or how about this gem, “What you don’t know won’t hurt you?” And what about, “He or she is a born sales person” or “Ignorance is bliss”? As I work these days with sales people and sales managers across Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia I see so many examples of why beliefs like these are so dangerous.Experience is not the best teacher

Change Leadership Management
Many small businesses experience change. Change leadership is the art of helping your team through the change management cycle. Each person shows different emotions and behaviour during change. It’s perfectly normal to experience a real mix of emotions. Not everyone feels all of these feelings intensely and people don’t go through them by numbers.

HIRE TOO FAST and / or FIRE TOO SLOW ©
Like A Bach Piano Contest? One small business owner shared this experience: “When I hired Sharon, my wife asked me, ‘how well do you know her?’ Two years later, I spent $150,000.00 in legal fees and a month in court. I will never forget my wife’s question.” There are fundamentally 25 different ‘Behavioral Characteristics’ that once known will precisely prognosticate how a person will perform on the job. The results have nothing to do with intelligence, knowledge, experience, personality or education.

Someone On Your Team Rub You The Wrong Way?
You can't make someone like you, and most people think you can't even make yourself like another person. I would agree. There's no magic trick you can use to turn someone from "not my favorite person" to a good buddy... but if you need to inspire someone with whom you don't enjoy a great relationship, there are a few things you can do to try to build more of a sense of collaboration. I've had some success with all three of these, both on the part of clients I've coached and in my own experience; but as they say in those weight-loss commercials, your results may vary.

A Battle for the Mind
Almost every person is born with virtually unlimited potential in terms of their ability to develop. Not everyone can be (or wants to be) an elite athlete or a Nobel Prize winner, but almost anyone can mature to be the person that he or she wants to be. The problem is that, in many cases, this maturing is negatively impacted by our self-talk. And much self talk arises out of feedback we experience. Third Generation Leadership operates in a different mind space.

Five Keys to Promoting Positive Human Behaviour
When could human behaviour be more positive than when a person is totally absorbed - “in the zone” some might say - in a passionate interest pursued for no other reason than the intrinsic enjoyment of creating the experience. An experience they have freely chosen, over which they have total control, that creatively expresses their natural talents and develops their unique mix of skills and life experiences. That's the true measure of a leisure/recreation/sporting experience. For over 30 years I have worked in the field of recreation development, observing, supporting, encouraging and helping develop positive human behaviour in men and women of all ages and from all walks of life. From this I have gleaned the presence of five basic features of positive human behaviour.

Would you hire this person?
This addresses a pet peeve of mine. And that’s the “Objective” on resumes. Here is a recent example on a resume submitted for my review: “To support the growth and profitability of an organization that provides challenge, encourages advancement, and rewards achievement with the opportunity to utilize my experience, skills, and proven abilities.” Sounds great – would you like to hire this person? But what do you know about this person? Is he/she a candidate for flipping hamburgers or for a CEO position? Does he have skills in supervising, organizing, planning, selling, marketing, etc? Is she proficient in any computer skills? We don’t know. This “Objective” tells us absolutely nothing about the person. It was a total waste of time on the applicant’s part.

Great Leadership Requires Inspiration, XIV
There are many ways to coach another person, but two major strategies: the direct approach, which relies primarily on the coach's knowledge and experience, and the indirect approach, by which the coach seeks to ignite the coachee's inner wisdom. When you're coaching a junior person - a potential leader who's just rising in terms of her knowledge and experience - she'll be thankful when you stick with the direct approach....
