Overcoming Barriers and Obstacles
There will always be barriers and obstacles between where you are right now and where you want to be. If your desire is fairly strong, you will definitely get started on it. You will probably spend a lot of money and time on it, too. You may even get most of the way there. However, the day you encounter a barrier or obstacle that is bigger than your desire, you will be stopped. That's the bad news. The good news is that there are no barriers or obstacles that can stop you when you are pursuing a Core Desire. The obstacles you encounter may be intimidating, they may slow you down, they may be difficult, they may hurt like crazy- but they won't stop you if you focus on your Core Desires. When you are less than wholehearted, you are easily derailed.

As a personal coach I am surprised and still taken aback by how often I encounter people who regardless of their age, station in life; their position, the power they wield, influence and money they possess, are not in touch with the very essence of who they are and by extension the purpose or meaning of their lives, or to put it more succinctly the very essential reason for their existence.

Successful people create positive personal impact. Creating and nurturing your unique personal brand should be your first step in creating positive personal impact. Regardless of how you choose to brand yourself, you should build your brand on integrity. This means saying what you think. The video, "Ouch! Your Silence Hurts," suggests that you should become a "pro-active ally" instead of a "silent colluder" or "passive bystander" when you encounter a situation that doesn't fit with your values. This video is a wakeup call. It tells us that we shouldn't let words and actions that conflict with our values go unchallenged.
