7 Negative Results of Over-Sharing Personal Info at Work
First of all let’s look at what is over-sharing. It is when a person, perhaps a co-worker, manager or other boss engages in lengthy personal conversations with you or when they carry on about their personal life at work. Why would they do that? Read on...

The Paradigm Within You
By simply changing the way you think, can put you on the path of change in your life which can allow you to reach your goals. How Do You Achieve Work-Life Balance?
I received an email from a friend earlier this week entitled "Personal Balance in Demanding Times" with the following question: "How can we balance our personal needs with the most pressing needs of our community and the larger world?" Her email continued with some deeper questions including: - How are you doing this balancing act? - Who do you know who seems to balance well and what do they know? - How does your life touch the life of the larger world and what would allow you to feed your personal life while making a difference "out there"? - How can you feel satisfied you've given enough to yourself, your family and your community? Some pretty deep stuff, right? All variations of questions I've asked myself over the years. Perhaps you have as well.

How to Accelerate Your Success with a Mastermind Group

Forget the Planner - Get a Plan!
When was the last time you took a vacation—not just a weeklong getaway to a luxury resort on some remote island, but actual time off from your job to do whatever you like? If it’s been longer than you can remember, you’re not alone.

Mix it up! Please!
Someone said to me recently, "Gee, I only have one night in New York. It's too bad I can't see client A because I should really see client B, instead."

Scheduling
It’s been said, “You can always get more stuff, but you can never get more time!” There will always be more to do than you can accomplish in a day and more people needing more of you than you are willing to give! It’s enough to make you want to pull your hair out! But don’t - instead think about the power of planning.

Misery Clubs
I’ve heard misery loves company but this is ridiculous.

Got A Problem? Find A Problem! Many years ago Dr. Karl Meninger of the world-famed Meninger Clinic in Topeka, Kansas, was asked the question: "What would you do if you feared that a nervous breakdown was coming on?" Without hesitation Dr. Meninger said, "I would find somebody with a bigger problem and get involved with helping him solve his problem; in the process I would forget about my own."

No One Is a Lost Cause

Arising from the Ashes of Professional Burnout
Even though I had wanted to be a veterinarian since I was 7-years old, after 12 years in practice, I found myself at the point I didn't know if I could stand another day in the office. I was frustrated, tired and worn out by the constant stresses of practice that included staffing headaches, client turnover, and financial strains. On top of it all, the stresses at work were having a profoundly negative influence on my personal life. I felt disjointed and disconnected from those I most cared about. My life was out of balance and nearly out of control. The pain of burnout became so bad that I started abusing alcohol and drugs in an effort to numb myself so I could make it through another day. I even contemplated suicide...

The Tremendous Life-Shaping Power of Vision
Vision is an integral part of a Life on Purpose. Without vision we can wither on the vine. What is vision? In working as a coach with thousands of people, I've found that vision is a key ingredient of our life purpose. It's what we see to be possible-not only for ourselves, but also for our families, our communities, and indeed for the world. Without it we perish. I've found that helping people reawaken their sense of what's possible is a key component of preparing for your journey to living your life according to your own personal life purpose. This is because the more someone taps into this realm of possibility, the more inspired they will be to take the actions necessary to make it their reality.

"A 360 is where a person gets feedback on their performance from their peers, their subordinates, their boss and in some cases even suppliers and clients. That's why it is called 360 – you get feedback from all around you." A 360 is a very intense tool and not to be messed with. How to Improve Your Time Management
One of the most common things that I come across working with people in business (especially business owners) is the comment that ‘I just have too much to do and not enough time to do it’ Now experience has shown that, on average, many people are actually working productively for only 20% of their working week until they start to focus on how they plan their week and their use of time. Effective time management is not just about productivity though – it’s essential to your health too (and it’s one of the key determinants of your business success). It is not unusual, when coaching clients, that we see a substantial increase in time management effectiveness enabling business owners to double their previous output results in quite a short period of time

Luckily for him, there was another person in the house and they called the ambulance. John had suffered a stroke. The warning signs were there all along. He smoked, was 30kg overweight, his diet was poor and exercise was spasmodic. He worked long hours and was under enormous pressure. Much of the pressure was due to John's organisational skills.

Self-confidence may have come to these people on account of their success, but usually self-confidence is present in people before they become successful. Once they start working toward success, usually self-confidence and success run parallel, each fueling the other.

Get a Grip On Your Time Before Your Kids Grow Up
A few years ago I attended a presentation from Parenting Expert and well-known author, Stephen Biddulph on "Raising Boys". My son, Trent was 11 at the time so I was interested to hear what Stephen had to say. In fact, so were the 800 other parents in the room! The key point that I picked up on was that boys from the age of 6 -14 really need 'time' with their dads. That is the most influential period in their lives when they bond with him. And the type of time they need is not all thrown into a 'once a week' or 'month' block or some exotic holiday once a year, they need to spend time with their sons on a regular basis. Otherwise how can you build a strong and stable relationship?

How To Organise Your Financial Future
Some time ago I spent a planning day with a new client to determine exactly what she wanted to achieve in her business over the next 12 months, where she is now and the exact steps she needed to take to reach her goals. On questioning Sophie about her income and expenditure, she told me 'my accountant handles that'. She had no idea what was happening with her finances, only that there seemed to be enough money when she needed it. This was not an empowering answer! Sophie's head was in the clouds or should I say buried in the sand. You cannot allow someone else to 'look after your financial affairs'. No one else is going to look after your money better than you do.

How to Increase Your Productivity and Profit From Your Image
I attended a business women's event last week and was amazed at how many of the attendees presented themselves. This was a business event and the way in which many of them dressed you would have thought they were going to a local football game! I met a 'coach' who raved about how successful she was and what she does for her clients. This person was at least 10kgs overweight, her chest was exposed and her clothes were very inappropriate for a business environment. If you were looking for a coach, would you consider investing in her services? She obviously had her own issues to deal with. What she said didn't match how she looked. In contrast there was the mortgage broker who was dressed extremely well in a tailored suit, who obviously took pride in her appearance and looked confident and competent.

Why create time to be alone
But what is the value of spending this alone? Neither the Dalai Lama nor the massage therapist let me know their thoughts, so I did a bit of research. One of the articles that I discovered was by Keith Renninson. He is a Vietnam vet turned motivational speaker and author. He talked about using the time alone to develop a personal life philosophy and then to check in with ourselves on a regular basis to confirm what is working and what isn’t working.

Stop Workplace Stress In Its Tracks
It's difficult, if not impossible, to avoid stress entirely. These tactics will allow you to perform emergency stress reduction, but you must also be aware when you're beginning to feel stressed. Do a self-check periodically (hourly, when you get up and move, or some other interval that works for you) so you can notice stress build-up so you can take these stress reduction steps before the stress level becomes unmanageable.

Ten More Important “Lessons Learned” For Leaders, According To Your Strategic Thinking Business Coach
Building upon another article I wrote on important lessons learned for leaders, I thought about additional important “lessons learned” for leaders that could be shared. The potential reward and return on efforts related to the strategic action to identify the “lessons learned” from our experiences merits additional thought. I found another great quote to share to confirm the value and importance of the “lessons learned” approach. The following is a quote from John Keats. “Don't be discouraged by a failure. It can be a positive experience. Failure is, in a sense, the highway to success, inasmuch as every discovery of what is false leads us to seek earnestly after what is true, and every fresh experience points out some form of error which we shall afterwards carefully avoid. Here are 10 more important "lessons learned" for leaders.

Important "Lessons Learned” For Leaders, According To Your Strategic Thinking Business Coach
One strategic action that I encourage all my clients to take is to look at any undesired or unplanned outcome of their efforts with a keen eye and a mindset toward identifying the “lessons learned” from the experience. The strongest and most effective leaders have the ability to commit to identifying and acting upon those “lessons learned.” And I believe leaders take a totally different view of failures that are experienced in their businesses and in their personal lives. The following is a quote from Denis Watley that I believe provides a strong confirmation of my belief about failure. “Failure should be our teacher, not our undertaker. Failure is delay, not defeat. It is a temporary detour, not a dead end. Failure is something we can avoid only by saying nothing, doing nothing, and being nothing.”
