The thing about coupons
Coupons are a surprisingly subtle invention. Now that anyone can offer them (because now anyone can have a store), it's worth a second to think about what they're for.

Do Your Clients Think You're A Grudge?
What Is A Grudge Product/Service? It's simple really. A grudge product/service is when you HAVE to spend money on something that you really would rather NOT HAVE TO spend money on. In fact... if you had it your way - you'd never spend a CENT on a grudge product or service again.

Do you hate the poor enough to be charitable?
You're going to despise me, so let's get that over and done with. It is winter in Cape Town. Temperatures plunge to the low single Celsius digits. Worse than that though is the hurtling, searing, icy bullets of rain thrust malevolently in gales that reach over 100 kilometres per hour. You don't want to be living in a plastic shelter in an informal settlement during one of our winters. Millions do.

DOCTORING UP THEIR IMAGE: WHY ARE SO MANY PHYSICIANS IMPLEMENTING PUBLIC RELATIONS IN THEIR PRACTICES?
As recently as a decade ago, most physicians who had achieved a certain level of peer and patient recognition were loath to advertise their practices until HMO’s began to dictate patient care and reimbursement. Soon after, sub-specialists such as gynecologists and internists were performing lucrative elective procedures that were once the sole domain of plastic surgeons and dermatologists. Enter public relations.

How to Become a Celebrity in Your Field
In a world where competition is fierce, the climb to the top is arduous and challenging. Everyone in your field is reasonably smart, educated, experienced, even talented. So what? To become recognized as a leader or celebrity in your field…no matter if your area of expertise is nuclear physics, business consulting, plastic surgery, sports, politics, or landscaping…you need a strategy that attracts followers.

Palindromes Make You Live Longer
Dr. Yacoov Stern at College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University says, Cognitive-Reserve permits you to reduce dementia and Alzheimer's by lifelong learning.

Sometimes Unintended Consequences Are A Good Thing
We’re all familiar with the “Law of Unintended Consequences.” My personal favorite is still the plastic whistles that were packaged with Cap’n Crunch cereal back in the ’70s. Blowing the whistle into your phone triggered a connection to AT&T’s long distance dialing AND by-passed their billing system. Free calls! Not exactly what Quaker Oats had in mind. (…and Ma Bell was not pleased.)

If Operating Rooms Were Run Like a Small Business...
What do operating rooms and small businesses have in common? Not much from my current perspective having spent the last few days and nights at a major NYC hospital. However, operating rooms, more specifically the surgeons in the operating rooms, can learn plenty from small business best practices.

Why Glass Greenhouses Are Worth the Cost
Glass greenhouses give you something that plastic just cannot compare to when it comes to growing plants and vegetation. First, they are gorgeous and they hold their beauty much longer than the plastic panels, and glass will sparkle in the sunlight and hold in the heat inside a greenhouse much longer than plastic.

Hip Replacement Recall Attorney Says DuPuy Misled Patients
After receiving findings that its ASR hip implant was faulty, DuPuy Orhtopedics actually waited a year before sending out a warning on March 5, 2010 to American surgeons that its implant had a higher than expected failure rate. Worse yet, the warning letters were not sent to American surgeons until three months after DePuy voluntarily withdrew its hip implant from the Australian market in December 2009. DePuy continued to promote and sell its faulty hip implant in America for six months after the Australian withdrawal before finally recalling the ASR hip implant in the U.S. in August 2010.

Are you guilty of this next small (but not so minor!) mistake? Reading article after article, soaking in all the tips, ideas and great marketing material, and then not implementing what you've learned. You and I both can learn a lot from George Huang, who retired from being a very successful plastic surgeon to become a professional coach. Here, he shares with us the "marketing rules" he broke to get his results

In Depressed Economy, Healthcare Public Relations Gives Plastic Surgeons an Advantage Over Competition
When the economy is down, specialized public relations firms can help plastic surgeons grow their practices by increasing name recognition in target markets. Public relations experts like Katherine Rothman, CEO of KMR Communications, can help plastic surgeons by providing them with editorial coverage in newspapers, magazines, radio, television, and health internet sites.
