Lesson #1: Find Inspiration in your Outside Interests
Tajiri never liked going to school. His father wanted him to study to become an electrician, but that was the farthest thing from Tajiri’s mind. Instead, Tajiri split all of his spare time between two activities: first, was roaming the forests and fields near his family’s home in his quest for insects.

Lesson #4: Tread Carefully Into New Waters
Today, the popularity of Pokemon throughout the world has led some to dub the phenomenon “Pokemania.” From Japan to the U.S., children are fascinated by anything and everything Pokemon: the cards, the toys, the websites, the candy, and the list goes on. But when Tajiri first thought about expanding his brand, he was not quite sure what to expect.

Social Media Marketing…The Challenge of Herding Cats
Social media marketing, communications. Gawd it sounds like soooo much fun...so interesting...so challenging...so mano y mano! Too bad everyone thinks of it as just another marketing/advertising tool to push ideas, products at folks. That isn't what social media communications is all about. It's about the customer. So start with the one you've got. Work with him/her. Make them happy...very happy. Help them be your advocates, your promoters. They'll tell a few folks how good your company, products, services are and in "almost" no time word will spread round the globe. Get out there. Get your hands dirty. You can't herd cats. You can't herd consumers. Get in the saddle with the attitude you can and they'll turn on you. Show they why your product/service is so good. Show them how to install, troubleshoot, use it. Then ..

If You Want To Be Happy and Successful Don't Become A Lawyer
No wonder lawyers have the highest incidence of depression among professions and are the most inclined to resort to drugs and alcohol to manage stress. According to this survey, the majority of lawyers have a warped view as to what makes you successful...

How To Dramatically Boost Your Chances Of Having A Successful Career
Many people have had their theories about what attributes are required to have a successful and rewarding career. Some say you need to have a high IQ. Others say that great communication and leadership skills are the keys while others think that coming from a wealthy family gives you a significant advantage in the business world. However a study that followed 268 Harvard students over a 70 year showed that the most significant factor to positively influence your career actually had little to do with what you did at work...

Will the Elderly Dominate the Internet Someday?
New information on senior users on the internet. How they use the internet and what they expect to see on websites.

Control - Alt - Delete
Walk through any cubicle farm and you will find everyone diligently staring at their (your) computer monitor, tapping the keyboard and fiddling with the mouse like some kind of rodent ouija board helping them find answers. What percentage is really working? What percentage is taking their break on the corporate hard drive?

The Game, and How You Play It!
Since playing “the game” I have used it as a brainstorming tool. When my wife and I began selling business training products in 2001, I was overjoyed to find a three-ring binder, Pen and Paper Games For Training, which contains forty different games and activities that can be used for business training, or as the binder suggests, “Putting the Fun into Learning.” The very first activity listed is “A to Z.” It’s “the game!” The description says, “This is a fun and interesting way to brainstorm by finding words starting with every letter of the alphabet. It can be used to explore definitions and ideas.”

Are You Using a Chess or Checkers Small Business Marketing Strategy
Until the day I learned to play chess I loved playing checkers. Both games require a strategy that maximizes a player’s ability to capture his opponents pieces without first losing his own. Checkers was fun. But the complexities of chess lead to more satisfying victories and defeats.

Lesson #2: Be Able to Say “I did it My Way”
No matter where young Tajiri went as a boy, it seemed he never quite fit in. He collected insects when most of his friends were cramming for college. He spent his money playing video games when most of the other kids were saving up. And, he always remained just a little bit to himself.

Lesson #3: Success Is the Never-Ending Search for Better
“The more I learned about games, the more frustrated I became because the games weren't very good,” recalls Tajiri. “I could tell a good game from a bad game. My conclusion was: let's make our own games.”

Lesson #3: “If you don’t have a lot of passion for it, you’re not gonna make it”
“I have probably the best personal collection of games you’re going to find anywhere,” admits Hawkins. “I’ve just been a nut for almost any form of software, but games especially whether it’s card games, board games, computer games, video games, I’ve just got a spectacular collection. And of course now I have four kids that are at different ages, so when we want to play, boy, we’ve just got a fantastic set of choices.”

Are You Playing to Win or Playing Not to Lose?
You may have heard the phrase "playing to win or playing not to lose." And while it sounds good to say "you're playing to win" in your business, what exactly does that really mean? Below are some signs that will show you which way you're leaning.

Future of Online Games

Stress and the Dating Game
Sure dating in this day and age is stressful, what with all the game playing involved even though what women say they value most is honesty, I find that women will often play their own games. It’s no wonder why men are stressed around dating. I thought I would provide some ways to rethink the dating game so that when stress does come up, you are better able to deal with it.

We’re Starting to Take Virtual Sales to the Real Bank
We may have worked with Atari for over six years back in the real gaming system days but we never really had a long attention span -- long enough to play the games. We knew people who slept under their desks and lived on Coke/Twinkies when it was crash n burn to get games out. Folks still do but now they're talking serious money. So serious we people buy virtual goods/stuff with real money. Times have changed but the attraction of games hasn't. The games are more realistic, more immersive and more valuable. Serious men, women, boys, girls play them...serious men, women develop them...seriously there's a new breed of casual games !!!!

Bedtime it’s All About Winning – Really!
Now we like video games as well as most folks even though we're terrible at it and have the gaming attention span of a goldfish. But seriously we know what the bed is for (yes that too) but seriously ...play videogames? We admit that our ancient Atari 2600 was a little clunky to lug from the living room to the bedroom (and the big tube TV set) and it's nothing to grab our smartphone and iPad to dash into the bedroom and play an hour of Angry Birds with the wife. Sorry just don't see the point. Maybe we skipped that lecture in our family harmony class but playing video games in bed doesn't get our adrenaline going or relax us. Sounds a little...boring!
