The Political Failures of the Baby Boomers, and the Challenges for the Next Generation
The Boomers' failures are distributed uniformly from Right to Left. But given the liberal-leaning Boomers' original rise from the 1960s counterculture, their weak-kneed absorption into the partisan political establishment is most ironic. The generation that fought for free speech and the right to question authority now enforces strict political correctness and quashes political dissent from their tenured posts in academia.

Candid Conversations: How to Drive the Political Correctness “Elephant” Out of Your Workplace
Individuals who are faced with difficult issues frequently choose to ignore them entirely or discuss them only indirectly. While most people would concur that issues such as disagreements over a course of action or poor performance should be addressed clearly and directly, the reality is that many are not comfortable doing so. It's so much easier at those moments to revert to the "politically correct" indirect methods that are the norm in many organizations. The failure to honestly and directly confront poor performance or unwise courses of action, for example, becomes the proverbial elephant in the living room – or in this case, the workplace.

Making the Big Leagues: How Steinbrenner Hit a Grand Slam
“I haven’t always done a good job, and I haven’t always been successful,” says Steinbrenner, “but I know that I have tried.”

Lesson #1: Don’t Compromise
At the very first audition of “American Idol”, fellow judge Paula Abdul got her first taste of what it was like to work with Cowell. Following a terrible performance by a young contestant, Cowell responded with one of his trademark criticisms. “My jaw literally – like a cartoon – must have hit the table,” recalls Abdul. She proceeded to tell Cowell that he could not talk to people that way. Cowell responded that indeed he could. Abdul countered, saying he could not talk to Americans that way. Cowell said that he could and he would and the conversation abruptly came to an end.

Serial Entrepreneur: How Cowell Produced Success
When Cowell was once asked what the secret to success was, he replied, “Work hard, be patient, and be a sponge while learning your business. Learn how to take criticism. Follow your gut instinct and don’t compromise.” It is by following this recipe that Cowell has shot to fame and earned a reputation as not only a great record producer, music executive, and television personality, but also as an astute and successful entrepreneur.

Simon Cowell Insults
There are few celebrities on TV today who have a reputation that matches that of American Idol creator Simon Cowell. Indeed, much of America has developed a love-hate relationship with this Sony/BMG Record Executive for the brutal honesty with which he dishes out his comments to would-be American Idols. But, love him or hate him, Simon Cowell insults have become a large part of why people tune in week after week to watch the show.

Innovation
We must open ourselves to intuitive thought if we are to open ourselves to innovative action.

Is Fear Running Your Life? How To Find Your Courage Amidst Adversity
Terrorism, recession, identity theft, melting ice caps, corporate downsizing, and various predators. Every day headlines bombard us with reasons why we should hunker down, play safe, avoid risk and settle for less than what we want out of life. This is why every day we need to be vigilant of fear mongering, mindful of the oppressive impact of fear and discerning of which ones we pay heed to.

Metric Synchronization Versus Standardization The Real Value Behind IEE Smarter Solutions Profile
“Like a politician stumping for votes, proclamations by senior executives (and many industry pundits) that people and not technology are what is important rarely translates from the realm of oratory pontification into meaningful real-world application. This is due in large part to the fact that outside of the framework of political correctness, communication as Bill McAneny offered in his book Frankenstein’s Manager – Leadership’s Missing Links is actually a desire and not a skill, a skill that is in short supply according to his findings. In fact, second only to the ubiquitous lack of people skills complaint, ineffective communication said McAneny is the most common charge leveled at an organization’s leadership.”

Think Like a Steward, Perform Like a Patriot
Political correctness – at least the contorted, silly version – is not high on my list of obligatory behaviors. I’ve certainly never deliberately used language likely to offend or disrespect, but I generally refuse to participate in society’s love affair with euphemisms. For me, a garbage collector is a garbage collector, not a “sanitation engineer.” Collecting garbage may not be glamorous, but it’s a necessary and honorable occupation. If my garbage collector went on strike I’d miss him a lot sooner than I’d miss a sportscaster or politician who walked out on the job. But there’s at least one verbal adjustment that I gladly make. In describing someone’s employee or assistant, I no longer use the term “subordinate.” More >>

6.3.2 Group empowerment: For-profit and NGO training activities
The new approach to skill development tends to be more overtly political in that its primary focus is to support collective action among groups of the poor and, particularly women, in order to achieve specific economic, social and political objectives. Self-help associations (SHA) have become one of the main institutional mechanisms for achieving this. There are two main types of SHA- work-related (i.e. trade or occupation) and community-based.

Office Politics: Survival of the Savvy
Tales of political sabotage, power plays and turf wars are part of any organization’s history. Nonetheless, political competence is the one skill everyone wishes to have more of — but no one talks about it.

Solving the Problem or Finding the Guilty
We have developed into a blaming society. Mom blames the older siblings when problems arise in the household. Teacher finds someone to blame when things go out of control in the class room. Management and unions blame each other. Political parties use blame in the extreme, and it is disruptive, subordinating national goals under political aims. Which describes your leadership: Do you actively search for solutions to problems or do you spend your energy searching for the parties to blame?

Mobile Home Parks - How to Spot and Identify Crime
Unless you have spent time in law enforcement, there are certain signs of crime that you would never notice as a result of your sheltered existence. However, there are important crime signals that every mobile home park owner should know, but that nobody will tell you due to political correctness.

How Much Of Our Lives Will We Let Them Take Over?
Sometimes I really have to wonder about the "political correctness" of California, one of my home states. In fact, in California, "political correctness" is really just a politically-correct term for "liberal insanity." And these days, it seems the state's PC Police have a real thing about the U.S. flag.

Poltical Savvy and Employees
Political savvy has little to do with one’s place in the hierarchy. All employees can use political savvy regardless of their position in the organization. The truth is you can engage in several activities without considering yourself a “political person.” For example: - relationship building - valuing diversity - persuasive communication - information gathering - networking - team involvement

Political Savvy for the Average Employee
What can political savvy mean to the average employee in the workplace? If you have ever watched TV sitcom The Office you probably have a good idea of what political savvy is not about. While the office politics of The Office employees may seem funny on TV, in the real world of work these behaviors could kill your career or even get you fired.
