We have certainly seen a great deal of slippage in our world in recent years. The business world is tough and extremely competitive these days. Some people might be feeling that it would be easy to lower their own standards of honesty and ethics, and rationalize that they are still “better” than a lot of other people we have read about and seen on the daily TV news. Allowing yourself to be weak in your own values may allow others to misguide you into behavior that will later strike you as very poor judgment. Prospective clients are looking for professionals who demonstrate honesty and integrity.

Just as in any garden, in life, weeds are inevitable and frankly just evidence of our fallibility as humans. Weeds of fear, poor attitude, bitterness, laziness, indecision, ignorance, clutter, poor time management, failure to set goals, lack of exercise, poor eating habits, and neglected relationships. How often do we allow them to grow unchecked until they choke out our happiness, contentment, and success?

Get in the game. Take reasonable, creative risks. Be willing to lose or "fail". Learn to embrace unexpected and (sometimes) painful or expensive outcomes as part of the tuition for success. Unless you are willing to pay the price, there is no chance to reach the top of the mountain. Go for it!

It’s my judgment, so it must be right!
One of the most fascinating lies we tell ourselves is if we believe something to be true, right or so, it must be. The fact is, much of what we try to convince ourselves and others as true is often a matter of judgment based on ego. If something is happening that we simply don’t approve of, then obviously it is wrong. Or so the thinking for many people goes. Learn a simple technique for minimizing judgment.
