| In the game of chess, the queen is the most powerful piece in the game. She can move any number of squares horizontally, vertically, or diagonally as long as her path is unobstructed. However, at the beginning of the game, the influence of the queen is restricted because of the configuration of the pieces. Although the same rules govern the play of the queen, because of where she is positioned at the beginning of the game she is unable to move and cannot attack.
