Idealism AND Pragmatism
| |
| dealism without pragmatism is like a beautiful house on paper. It is nice to look at and dream of, but it does not manifest itself into physical reality. Pragmatism without idealism is like putting a house together without a design, it serves some purpose in the short run, but does not create lasting values.
As Victor Hugo put it, it is by the real that we exist, and it is by the ideal that we live. As human beings, we obviously need both: to exist and to live. To create a meaningful and fulfilling life, we need both ideals AND practicality.

| |
| It's not like you just sit back and eventually it's going to happen, says Case. Leadership: Now More than Ever!
| |
| Winston Churchill is a hero of mine. Partly, I think, because he wasn't perfect. He was neither an obvious hero nor someone acknowledged early on to be the leader that he eventually became. He just put his head down, plowed through and never gave up. He was honest and hard-working, pragmatic and passionate. Sound like any small business owners you know?

Just How Important is Preparation to Sales?
| |
| Jim believes that you must know everything there is to possibly know about a potential customer or client, perhaps even more than they know about themselves. My theory for preparation revolves more around a salesperson's ability to be strategically and tactically prepared for every imaginable scenario that could occur in a sales meeting and cycle. Both of our approaches depend on the salesperson being prepared to ask good, tough, timely questions. If your salespeople combine those two approaches, they would be unbeatable. |
