Lesson #1: Creative Brilliance is the Bridge to Success
“It takes a big idea to attract the attention of consumers and get them to buy your product,” wrote Ogilvy. “Unless your advertising contains a big idea, it will pass like a ship in the night. I doubt if more than one campaign in a hundred contains a big idea.” Ogilvy was an advertising executive who praised the virtues of creativity; if an ad didn’t sell, it was because it wasn’t creative. His years of experience taught him that people were not going to buy a product if the ad was boring; only interest and curiosity would entice people to buy.

Small Business Tips: Think Your Business To Success
Before any action happens in the world, first there is a thought ... an idea ... a stroke of genius. This thought triggers the response into the physical world. So say for example you want to pick up your coffee cup – your brain thinks the thought and then sends electrical impulses and chemicals to your arm muscles which in turn extend and contract to pick up your cup. But your eyes first assess how far away the cup is and how potentially heavy the cup is before you lift it – otherwise you would knock it over or spill the contents. What happens in many businesses is they miss the thought stage – leaping into action before fully have completed the thought action. As a result, mistakes and errors are made which mean re-work and wasted effort.

Disturbing Thought Patterns are Toxic
Disturbing Thought Patterns are Toxic. They permeate your body, your mind, and make you feel bad mentally. Your thought focus is then basically ‘in the dumps.’ What could we have done in our lives up to this point if we had never had a disturbing thought pattern? What if we hadn't gotten sidetracked and put things aside? What if we had focused on the matters at hand? What if we had done what we set out to do without letting negative thoughts get in the way? WHERE WOULD WE BE NOW??? Imagine the accomplishments, the feeling of getting it right that we would feel and where we would be!

The Secrets to Small Business Success
I was delivering a one-on-one coaching call tonight and my client asked me the question of, 'How did you become so successful so fast?' and at first I paused and thought about that. How did I become successful in just three and a half short years? The first thing I thought of was, 'Am I successful?' and that question alone could have taken me ten minutes to think about an answer to so instead of ponder that, I moved on. I thought about what I had done over the course of my time in business and I thought about what had allowed me to achieve so much in such a short time.

Do You Need Your Salespeople to Love and Respect You?
The sales manager I coached had some very human needs. When he connected with his salespeople, they shared details of their lives, plans for their weekends and he felt loved. When salespeople praised his coaching or said that his advice helped them on a sales call, he felt respected. And when he assured the higher-ups that good things were happening, he truely believed that business was on the way.

The impact of thought leadership on your employees
While thought leadership is a very powerful tool for companies to reach and influence their target publics, one of the most powerful spin offs of a thought leadership campaign handled properly is the impact on employees. Involve them in your thought leadership campaign and you will reap the rewards but more importantly you will have an engaged and motivated workforce.

Thought leadership must tell a genuine story
To be a thought leader or for your company to have a thought leadership campaign you need to tell a genuine story.

Classic example of thought jacking
Thought jacking can be a very successful tool to elevate your thought leadership position or to create a thought leadership platform for your brand. Here are two examples showing how Malcolm Gladwell has used this approach for his position on the tipping point as well as deliberate practice or the 10,000 hour principle.
