Managing Your Time 20 More Tips
Every day we hear someone say, “I am so busy. I just don't have enough time to get things done!” And I imagine each of us has fallen into that same feeling from time to time. Are you a good manager of your time? Could you improve upon your use of this limited and precious item called time? If we are honest, the responses are probably “No and Yes.” As part of my business coaching and strategic thinking and planning consulting work, we do work on improving time management of individuals and of teams. We search to find more time by becoming more efficient and much more conscious about how we spend our time. Here are 20 more tips I have found to be helpful in managing one's time.

The Gift of Time
Time is one of my favorite subjects. Time is actually the most precious resource we have. Everyone starts their week with the same amount of time. Time is not a discriminator nor does it have any favorites. Time is fair and always ready to serve anyone who understands it. How we use the time we are allotted each day will have a definite impact on our outcomes or results. We are stewards of how we invest our time each day. We must treat time as more precious than money. Being good stewards of time will unlock the key to success in our lives and businesses.

Concentration Is The Cure For Tough Times…Part One
Every time you do not concentrate, you fall behind on what you planned to do and the result is, you lose a lot. That precious time is gone forever. Every day, you have 1,440 minutes at your disposal. That’s the same amount of time that successful people like, a Bill Gates or a Nelson Mandela, have every day. You may find reasons for not getting things done, but most excuses are poor substitutes for ACTION. Most things in life are possible.

Work and Life Balance
I often hear people complaining that they their workload is too great, their working hours too long and they don’t have sufficient time to do things like go to the gym, spend precious time with family or meet up for dinner with friends. Achieving work life balance can often be such a simple goal to achieve, but why does it come so easy to some people and yet cause such difficulty to others?

Your Reputation: A Dozen Ways to Protect It
Preserving our reputation ought to be a top priority for all professionals. We unwittingly do things on occasion that damage our precious reputation. The rules for enhancing reputation are all common sense, unfortunately they are not always common practice. I have developed a dozen things to remember about preserving your reputation, and I would be delighted to have suggestions of things to add to the list. What would you add? 1. Follow the Golden Rule 2. Be positive 3. Do more than your fair share 4. Admit mistakes 5. Be kind 6. Listen more than you talk 7. Be humble 8. Be reliable 9. Read Body language 10. Offer and ask for assistance 11. Operate from a sense of values 12. Keep your ear to the ground.

How do You Stay Focused When Things Get Tough?
There are so many distractions out there that it takes intellectual effort to stay focused. Focus in on goals and rewards not the difficulties. Focus on results and you will succeed. Don't live in the past. Learn from it and let it go. The ability to forget is a talent of greatness. You cannot afford to look behind. Don't let little things bother you. Embrace and accept the fact that focus takes work. Leadership is a precious commodity. 3%'ers make the difference.

Exit Planning…All Good Things Come to an End
A wise sage once said, "All good things must come to an end". This is especially true for the small business owner, who’d like to exit their business gracefully. But, saying it and taking action are two entirely different propositions when it comes to making that a reality. Most small business owners are constantly consumed with the day-to-day running of their business and have precious little time for the luxuries of planning, unlike their larger corporate cousins, this activity tends to be put off till last minute or generally not done at all.

Is the Baby Ugly?
Well of course all babies are beautiful and there are very few things more precious than a new life in this world. Yet the analogy of a baby to our work is very interesting to consider. It is difficult, if not impossible, to not see extreme beauty in what we helped create. When we work hard on a project or invest a significant amount of time on anything, we become blinded by the emotional investment we have already made. We lose our objectivity and in some cases "fall in love" with the ugly baby we have created.

Letting Go
There is really no such thing as time management. We all have the same 24 hours a day. What you can manage is where you put your attention. Where you spend your energy and time. And for many of you, you may not be spending your precious time doing things you love or being in environments that support you in fully developing your true self. One key is to let go of habits, commitments and even people who are not contributing to your life in a positive way. Here are a couple of tips to get you started.

5 Steps to Overcome Procrastination and Take Action
Do you procrastinate and often find a myriad of excuses as to why you have not got things done? Do you feel overwhelmed with the many things you have on your “to do” list and wonder how you will ever get started doing them let alone get them all done. Many people blame a lack of time as the reason why they do not get things completed on their list. Granted, time is precious and there are many demands on all of us. However, sometimes the size of the list can often be the biggest reason why people do not get things done. They just don’t know where to start. What I have outlined are 5 simple steps that can help you tackle some of your list? So let’s begin.
