It’s Time for Content, Communication Course Correction

| The financial shell game finally caught up with Wall Street. The US auto industry
suddenly realized their bloated infrastructure and their views of what people
should buy didn't match up with what customers were asking for. The two industries
knew how to solve the problems they created...go where they print money. The
content creation/sharing/showing/enjoying players pulled back as they have in
every downturn and turned their attention to tightening up their organizations,
reducing profit margins and focusing on products, technology, services that satisfy
consumers. Suddenly we're doing more with less and placing renewed emphasis on
listening and talking with folks about exactly what they want and need from us.

Profitable Online Business Ideas and the Recession; Taking Action

Nothing in life happens until you take action. You can talk all you want about something changing in your life, but nothing will change until you take action. You can complain, whine, moan and even cry about the circumstances in your life that you don’t like and that is all you’ll ever do until you DO something about it.

Moving Forward -- It’s Time for a Content, Communication Course Correction

The downturn we are experiencing today provides an excellent opportunity for entrepreneurs to move forward as aggressively as they can to gain ground over the competition. While many firms are run by managers who only have minimum "skin in the game," the firms are more cautious and pull back more aggressively. Entrepreneurs can make the physical and fiscal moves that gain sales and marketshare.

Make Life A Daring-Do Adventure

Helen Keller said that life was nothing if not a daring-do adventure. This article shows you how to manage the risks in your life, rather than fall prey to foolhardiness and chance.

Ice Cream Kings: Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield are Born

“I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream,” proclaims Jerry Greenfield, co-founder of one of the most popular brands of ice cream in the U.S. Indeed, the success of Ben & Jerry’s since its launch almost thirty years ago seems to support his claim. From the $5 correspondence course in ice cream making Greenfield and his partner Ben Cohen took from the Pennsylvania State University in 1978, to being named “U.S. Small Business Persons of the Year” by President Reagan in 1988, the childhood friends not only achieved tremendous success, but they did so on their own terms.

Obama Tell The Nation's Students

| On Tue, Sep 8, 2009 in a speech reminiscent of the challenges of entrepreneurship, president Obama admonished the young minds to never give up. Once again, president Obama has used his oratorical skill in finally quenched the fire that encapsulate his planned speech to the nation's student and stirred us all to challenge obstacles and actualize our goals. Obama told the students "Take responsibility and refuse to let failure define you"... The president affirmed "If you quit, you are not just quitting on yourself, you are quitting on your country".

Whine or Shine ---- Sales Management

| Jimmy Jo Bonds was hired by ABC Heating as their new Vice President of Sales. ABC Heating and Air Conditioning has seventeen branches across the Midwest. Jimmy is replacing the former VP of Sales due to stagnant sales (zero growth) that did not improve for five years running. Jimmy has quite an impressive resume as a "Product Manager".
Jimmy's primary challenge was stated very clearly by his boss the President......
"I need you to focus on Growing Market Share!"
The president went on to promise Jimmy all the support and resources he would need to get the job done. Jimmy has eighteen sales people and a National Accounts Manager reporting directly to him. |

From Sharecropper's Daughter to College President

My mother used to say, "As the twig is bent, the tree shall grow." I believe that Ruth Simmons, once president of the highly-prestigious Smith College in Massachusetts, is the classic example of the truth of that statement. She is currently serving as President of Brown University. She is also the epitome of the American Dream and living proof that it is still alive and well in America.

Statism Of The Union II

As far as the observation that both have (or had) the ability to make great speeches, I'll concede that Presidents Reagan and Obama are similar. But the similarities end there. In terms of real substance, Barack Obama definitely ain't Ronald Reagan....

A Century Of Leadership - Good And Bad

It might be simplistic, and I certainly invite discussion, but today I'm ranking the men who've held the office of President since 1911 in terms of how well they did in resisting this "progress" toward socialism/collectivism by their overall support of the U.S. Constitution. My thinking is this: if, as the foremost leader of the federal government, the president can do a good job at fulfilling his/her oath to uphold the Constitution, prosperity generally becomes much easier to obtain in America (and, frankly, elsewhere in the world). When the president fails to protect the Constitution (or, worse, attacks it), he or she aids the progressive march toward collectivism - but pulls the nation away from prosperity and strength....

Who Says There Are No Jobs?

Despite record levels of unemployment, we all know, of course, that our president is on the case. He's the Jobs President... if you don't believe it, just ask him, or any of his sycophantic Demediacrats! But only those who are sufficient Biblical scholars to have heard of Job (with a capital "J") understand that it's really a case of mispronunciation of the vowel....

Blazing Our Own Improvement Path

A timeless principle of inside out leadership is continuous personal growth. When U.S. Supreme Court associate justice, Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr., was hospitalized at the age of 92, President Roosevelt went to visit him. He found Holmes reading a Greek Primer. "Why are you reading that?" the president asked. The great jurist replied, "Why, Mr. President, to improve my mind."

Renewing Limited Government: Regulations

America's 40th president said many spot-on things about the massive growth of government his "progressive" foes always sought. One of my favorite quotes is this little quip Ronald Reagan had to say about the federal government: "It's like a baby. It's an alimentary canal with an appetite on one end and no sense of responsibility on the other...."

The Turkeys We Send To D.C.

You've heard the old joke, the one they tell every year at this time: "Know why they aren't having Thanksgiving in (Chicago)? They sent the turkey to Washington!" Usually, the quip refers to the president - any president - but lately, all the elected federal officials from both parties have been particularly turkey-like....
