Being right
Being right can leave us with a sense of self-affirmation but it may involve conflict with others who also see themselves as right. Being right involves matters like the social consensus, received doctrine, social rules, and necessities for living together, but it is worth reflecting on how far this term can also be a trap. Insistence on being right may not always serve us and there are times when it is more useful to let go and allow another possibility to emerge.

A lot of effort is put into getting new clients. We all know our client base will change. Previous clients can move to a new area, sell their business, close down, or change their priorities. So finding new business is always important - but so is keeping your previous clients. Here are nine ways to keep previous clients coming back for more!

Do You Have What it Takes
This is a follow up to a previous article “Starting your online business” (SYOB) and in this article I would like to expand on your “WHY” the reason that has all of a sudden due to a particular circumstance or recent event in your life, turned your thinking towards a different approach or trend.

Happiness is only a thought away
Do you want to be happy in your life? Not the constant blissed out happiness of flower children, but genuine happiness on a day to day basis. Happiness is only a thought away. What do I mean by that? One of the key indicators of how happy you feel is how optimistic you are and one of the causes of optimism is how you talk to yourself. In a previous issue, we talked about your internal guidance system and touched on self talk. This month I would like to explore this concept a bit further.

Lesson #2: Be Ruthless and Refuse to Accept Rejection
At 22 years old, Huizenga was stuck in rut. His high school classmates were all graduating from university and beginning stable jobs. Huizenga, on the other hand, could not seem to find something that suited him. He had tried college, but decided it was not for him after just three semesters. He had tried the army, but that too did not fit his bill. Instead, he had spent the previous five years drifting from temporary work. Huizenga had reached a self-admitted crisis point in not only his career, but in his life.

SMEs and Client Gifts – should we or shouldn’t we?
As a small business owner, I understand the difficulty in determining whether to give clients gifts at this time of year. In my previous life as a corporate Marketing Manager, I received many gifts, some of which were good while others were just…. Now that I have my own business, I have been wondering what I should do for my clients this silly season. Here are some of my ideas.

The Importance of Time Management in Personal Development Plan
In the previous years, time management was only applied in business life. However, many people believe that time management can benefit each one of us, whether we are dealing with personal or professional lives.

Stuck in the Middle... of Insanity?
You've probably heard the modern day definition of insanity, right? It's doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. Well, let's look at this more deeply by applying the Life On Purpose Perspective with it. Recently, I've been working with the challenge many people who come to Life On Purpose seem to have -- drifting through life. I sometime think of it as the "Groundhog Day Syndrome" because one day seems pretty much like the repeat of the previous days. I find many of my clients who are adrift in their life are much like a cork drifting around in the water, being buffeted in one direction or another by the "currents of circumstances."

Never compete with anybody else; but yourself
I have some major disagreements with our current school system, especially because of the culture of competing against one another. We are pitched against our classmates to evaluate who is better than the other. And since only 1 can be the winner, we develop 99 losers. So then, why are we surprised when 1% of the population earns more money the 99%? So then, why are we surprised that 99% of the world is poor? Isn’t it hypocrisy? Whereas, you ask anybody who has made a difference in our society as to what they owe their success to. Invariably it comes to the fact that these people competed with themselves, and not others. They wanted to be better than their previous best. They wanted to beat their previous performance. And that is the key to success.

Life’s Highway
Continuing along life’s highway, we come into contact with many obstacles, all of which are said to enhance us a people. I have had some very “enhancing” people in my life so far. Just when I was starting to think that I was learning from all my previous lessons, yet another new “enhancement” comes along!!! I know – it is just to keep me on my toes, not to get bored or complacent, maybe “quiet” for a while would be a nice option, but clearly not yet….
