Coco Chanel Perfume
In 1924, legendary fashion icon Coco Chanel remarked, “I want to give women an artificial perfume. Yes, I really do mean artificial, like a dress, something that has been made. I don’t want any rose or lily of the valley; I want a perfume that is a composition.” Today, eighty-three years after the first launch of Chanel No. 5, Coco Chanel perfume remains as popular as ever and indeed, one of the best known brands in the world.

ALTERNATIVE ENRICHMENT
Alternative financing may be the perfect solution for companies looking for additional means of securing adequate business funding. This form of financing may be used to carry a new venture through its early phases of development, restructure existing debts, or take the business to its next level. Conventional lenders such as banks and private lenders may shy away from riskier businesses and not focus on business credit. Furthermore, an established company may find itself needing additional capital, yet for various reasons is ineligible for a loan.

How To Finance A Home Based Business Franchise
Making the decision to start your own home based business can often be easier than actually coming up with the money to pay for the new business. In today's economy, finding a loan can be tougher than ever, but if you know where to look and are familiar with alternative methods of financing, you can start a home based business franchise in no time and recoup your investment before you know it.

Home Based Business--Start Up Money From Angels
Angels are probably the largest source of risk capital in the small business economy, and while three-quarters of successful small businesses used their founder's money for start-up, so-called angel investors may be an option.

Palo Alto –CA, October 16th, 2007, “Is entrepreneurship teachable?" Can we really teach Africans how to manage and run successful companies? Proper Regulation Is Crucial to Ensure Welfare Gains
The effects of privatisation on living conditions of the population, and, in particular, on improved access and quality, are mixed and depend on the regulatory framework in place and the capacity of the state to co-operate with the private sector. In particular, the impact of privatisation policies on the welfare of the population and ultimately on the poor requires:

Unleashing entrepreneurship: Making business work for the poor
There has been a big change in the United Nations's engagement with the private sector influenced by its stewardship of the Millennium Development Goals. It was the urgent need to enhance the contribution of the private sector in achieving the MDGs that prompted Secretary General Kofi Annan to appoint a commission to examine how the role of the private sector in this major global effort could be maximized.

Great Example of Blogging Changes to Your Product
I'm a small investor in Shelfari. I read a ton and thought it would be fun to play along with them at home and both a user and an investor. About a month ago I started noticing increasing chatter about Shelfari spam during the invite process in my RSS search feeds on "Shelfari." I regularly passed them on to Josh Hug, the CEO of Shelfari.

The VC Version of Kick the Can
I got an email this morning from an entrepreneur that I know that has been trying to raise an early round from a "seed VC investor" for the past few months. He's put together (and closed) a decent angel round and left it open for this seed investor.

ATTRACTING INVESTORS: A Compelling Executive Summary in 10 Items or Less
Attracting an investor is like attracting a mate—you want to pique the investor’s interest without showing all your cards at the outset. The perfect vehicle for achieving this delicate balance is the Executive Summary. The goal of an Executive Summary is to whet the appetite of the investor by presenting a compelling premise, an irresistible hook. Your short (5 pages or less) document is meant to give a potential investor every reason to say “yes” and little reason to say “no” to a face-to-face meeting.

Investor Presentations: The How To's of Success
Few presentation appearances will test your ability to communicate more than the investor presentation. For better or worse, judgement of your performance will be swift, usually within the first thirty seconds. Even with these high stakes, presenters make some common mistakes in preparing for these crucial business presentations. Here are some basics to keep in mind before your next investor presentation.

Entrepreneur? - What the Heck is that?
According to most dictionaries, an entrepreneur is a business person who willingly takes a new idea, concept or enterprise. He or She will take on the full responsibility for the outcome. They provide more then capital. Just providing capital would make them an investor, not an entrepreneur. An investor usually will let someone else handle all the day to day business activities.

Non-Real Estate Loans Private Lenders
Non-real estate loans from private lenders is not as hard of a proposition as one might think. But are they worth the high interest rate? Typically a private loan made for non-real estate purposes will cost you more in the short term than a traditional loan. The advantages of a private loan for non-real estate deals is that they often take less time to approve and the terms are generally more flexible. By nature private lenders take on a lot of risk, but don't be fooled into thinking that they do so unknowingly or without reservation. Assurances, a good track record and often some equity will be needed to get one of these "quickie" loans.

Defining “Hard Money”
Even though the rates can be high, hard money can be quite useful when an investor has an opportunity to buy a property for a low price and sell it for a profit. Simply put, hard money even with its drawbacks can be a great tool in providing the capital necessary to facilitate a Real Estate Investor.

What if My Credit is Shot & I Have No Money?
When ones’ credit suffers damage, private money lenders can make a transaction possible…for a price. That, though, is a subject for another day. In the meantime, wholesaling makes it possible for a new home business to generate enough cash flow to live comfortably and, in time, save a nest egg for future purchases. The idea behind wholesaling is to bird dog great real estate investment deals, and get them into contract. Once a contract is signed and escrow opened, the wholesaler then assigns the contract to a cash buyer (another investor) who will then fix & flip it or hold it as a rental. This way everybody wins.
