At each step, you should deliver the information that your prospect needs in order to move that prospect at least one step closer to purchase. So how prepared are you? How well do you know your product or service? How much do you practice? Seem like elementary questions – right? I mean outstanding athletes practice. Outstanding actors practice. And trust me on this one, so do outstanding sales people. This should be a “no brainer”, yet is it? Three things for you to take with you today. We are all sales people. There are things each of us has to sell. So learn the process.

You have to love today's social media. Ok you don't have to love it because there is so darned much of it and it has empowered people. Problem is some people just shouldn't be empowered. Heck some should have their computers unplugged and their smartphones confiscated. But sites and blogs have done an excellent source of how-to (how-to install, how-to use, how-to fix, how-to replace, how-to get action) information. So if a company's support group is a little slow in responding, only following what their support check list tells them or speak in tongue there are people out there who can help. Use Bing (Google is so yesterday!) and find the answers. Just don't Tweet because someone might send you classified documents.

Product/Service Acceptance, Success Beyond Statistics
The minute something new, exciting is introduced a few folks say it's going to take over the world in less than five years. After the second year of talking about, writing about the same thing the sucka only has 10% (or less) of the market. Obviously it's a dog, a miserable failure, a stupid idea the guys/gals never should have bothered to think about. What a dumb waste of your time, their money. So we scan the horizons for the next great thing and BAM!!! here it comes over the hill. Whooppee!!! Thank GAWD!!!! In less than five years.... Just doesn't work that way because: 1) mere mortals are slow and it takes them time to understand what it is, why they need/want it and 2) haven't even made good use of the last great thing. Wine, beer, heck good cheese need to age...so do good ideas.

When you have a grand vision of your book hitting best seller status or the new product launch making thousands upon its release, self imposed pressure to ‘knock it out of the ballpark’ can be hazardous to your success. It can also be hazardous to your health. I’ve even seen how the stress can negatively impact the overall success of an entire business.
