Bad Boy on the Rise: Sean Combs Makes His Mark

| With help from Arista Records founder Clive Davis, Combs was able to create his own music label, Bad Boy Entertainment. A few of the acts he had previously signed to Uptown, including Christopher Wallace (a.k.a. The Notorious B.I.G.) and Craig Mack, signed on to Combs’ new company, allowing Combs to hit the ground running. In its first year, the young label released Mack’s Flava In Ya Ear, which proved to be a huge success. This was followed with albums by B.I.G., which also went on to become multi-platinum. |

The Fly Girl Takes Off: Lopez’s Career Soars

| After Lopez made the move to Hollywood, opportunities seemed to abound. She continued to star as a Fly Girl on the hugely successful In Living Color for two years, before deciding to move on to bigger and brighter things. She gained roles as a dancer in numerous music videos, including Janet Jackson’s That’s the Way Love Goes. She was even offered the chance to tour on Jackson’s world tour but turned it down. Lopez had greater ambitions. |

| Adolescents the world over might know him as Puffy Daddy or P. Diddy, but in 2004, the fashion world got a taste of the real creativity behind rapper-producer Sean Combs. That was the year Combs’ Sean John Collection of clothes earned him the title of Top Menswear Designer of the Year from The Council of Fashion Designers of America.
