Anticipation: Proactive Responsibility

Waiting for the other shoe to drop is never a viable alternative. Using the full scope of our awareness to seek out and examine many of the possible consequences of our actions allows us to anticipate and avoid them. In business as in life, taking a proactive, responsible stance may not prevent the worst from happening, but it'll certainly allow us to be prepared for it. In other cases, preventive action can allow us to anticipate — and to avoid — costly mistakes.

Discernment: Discovering a Vision for the Future

It would be so much easier, I think, if I could really be the 'master of my destiny'. Yet, deep down I know that I'm a part of something much bigger than myself. To the extent that I can join the flow of that 'something', I find an energy within that makes even the most difficult engagements go almost effortlessly. On the contrary, when I fight it, even the simplest tasks take a herculean effort. Discernment allows me to come into alignment not only with my own destiny, but it creates a synergy between me and the rest of the world.

Empathy Means Not Going It Alone

When I feel overwhelmed, it's often because I forget that I'm not in competition with the rest of the world, but I always have the option to join in cooperation. That requires that I adjust my attitude toward the rest of the population of the world and see them as other 'selves' rather than threats. This awareness, this attitude, I call 'empathy'.

'Purposeful Change': The Way Forward

Change happens all around us, but we're not 'victims' of change. We have a critical part to play in seeing that change moves us in a positive direction. That's what 'purposeful change' is all about: getting involved as an architect of the future.

Wisdom Is Knowing What We Don't Know

Comprehension, as most people understand it, is not a strength but rather a weakness. People often presuppose wrongly that everyone has the same comprehension as they do. Arrogance insists that our vision of the "facts" is the right one. Humility demands that we be aware of how much of our own personal interpretation goes into our vision of reality. We begin to have real comprehension once we realize that our perspective may not be the only valid one.

Leading with Your Strengths

Making a difference starts with banishing negativity from life. Changes happen when we start focusing on our achievements and surrounding ourselves with people who support rather than disparage us. As they have unique perspectives to offer us, we, in turn have unique strengths that they need. This is what I call 'social economy' — we 'supply' them what we have to offer and 'demand' that they offer to those in their circle their unique best.

Change Is a Life or Death Matter

People resist change, even when it's beneficial. Even when we try to make a difference, too often we do not succeed. Perhaps the problem lies in the starting point. Change begins when we begin to refocus our own awareness. All personal and professional change is an inside job.

Change Is Here To Stay Thoughts From A Change Agent

| "The trouble with the future is that it usually arrives before we're ready for it." Arnold H. Glasow
Whenever someone refers to me as a "Change Agent," I accept it as a real compliment because that is a very accurate description of what I am. Since change is here to stay, I wanted to share some thoughts about change and some strategies on dealing with change.
Change in the workplace and in our lives is inevitable. The way most people deal with change can vary from trying to ignore it; getting angry; wishful thinking and/or running away. A very positive way to deal with change is to look at change as a spawning ground for new opportunities for the business or organization.

HANDLING CHANGE

| Change is not a destination, it is a journey.
For many business owners getting their staff or themselves to handle change and perhaps do things in a different or new way represents a massive challenge.
If you consider that people make change, people fear change and people resist change then when we want to implement change our systems or processes or methods of doing business then we must first consider the people who are going to be involved in the change.

Profitable Online Business Ideas and the Recession: Keys to Success Part 2

In the last article we discussed the need for change. Without the willingness to change, nothing will change in our life and circumstances. We can want change or things to change all we want. We can want change or desire for changes in our life till we are blue in the face, but nothing will happen till we take a step towards that change. You hear people all the time talking about wanting things to change in their lives, but sadly nothing ever does. Why? They seem to want things to change. They agonize over the things going wrong in their life, but nothing changes. In truth, things usually get worse.

Change is a Fact of Life --- Six Keys That Make a Difference

| Without change your company becomes stagnant, uncompetitive and boring. A leader's major responsibility is to create change, instigate change and then manage change effectively. In spite of the fact that creating change is a key competency required to be an effective leader, most people resist change. This includes leaders themselves. However, effective leaders accept change as a positive force and they are able to convince those that follow them that change is nothing more than a roadmap to a new and better destination.
