What Would You Do If You Had No Fear?
| |
| “What would you do if you had no fear?” This is the intriguing question that my friend, author Diane Conway, posed to people. Their answers inspired her to write a book of the same name. Her question inspires me to stop often during the day to ask this of myself. Even when I don’t realize that I’m fearful, I find the question useful because fear has many symptoms and disguises. |

The Art of Asking Better Questions For Better Clarity, Focus and Greater Wealth
| |
| During a recent game of Scrabble my son doesn’t want to seek the answer to how to speak a word, he just wants to know the answer.
When was it that we stopped seeking more answers by asking better questions? Very small children ask question after question and don’t look for someone to give them the answer. It seems to me that sometime in elementary school we stopped asking questions and started asking for answers. |

What Business Are You In?
| |
| It is the very first question I ask my new clients. The answers I get obviously vary, and I have never had a client give me the correct answer.
If I was to ask you, as a business owner, what business are you in? What would be your answer?
Some of the answers I have gotten in the past are:
" I am in the recruitment business!"
" I am in the concrete business!"
" I am in the retail business!"
"I am in the real estate business!"
These answers are all wrong! and if your answer was like those above, then you are wrong as well! |

Strategic Planning Begins with a Clear Picture of What You Do

While it may sound somewhat juvenile to suggest that organizations expend effort during the strategic planning process to define what they do, there are some very compelling reasons to do so. And, in the end, you may find that this simplistic exercise is the root of many organizational troubles. |

How Well Do You Understand Your Organization’s Core Competencies?
| |

Live the Question
| |
| We have a culture of impatience and a need for answers and complete certainty. If we aren't satisfied with the response we get when we ask the question, we tend to seek out other experts to provide us with an answer which is more acceptable. Why are we so uncomfortable with just staying with the question? Often, living the question has more value than rushing to answers. |
