Do You Want To Become A Rainmaker
During my 35 year career, I have had the privilege of being referred to as a "Rainmaker" in several news articles and stories during interviews with some of my clients. I take that as a very kind compliment. Some may ask, what is a "Rainmaker?" The American Indian tradition would say that the Rainmaker used magical powers to bring rain to nourish crops to feed the people of the tribe. Today, the most common and simplistic definition I can offer would be this: A "Rainmaker" is a person who brings the most revenue into a company or organization and the revenue or money is the rain. Today's "Rainmaker" makes things happen, generates the most new customers, new business and takes the art of the doing business to new levels.

Lesson #3: See the Forest Through the Trees
“I think the more you have a generalist perspective, I think sometimes the more you can kind of see through the forest and the trees,” says Case. “And when it gets a little bit cloudy, you know, have some sense of, ‘Well, maybe this might happen or maybe that might happen.’”

Guerrilla Marketing Memes
The prehistoric man, Uba, spent all day in the rain trying to catch a fish because his family was very hungry and in dire need of food. But he was unable to grab a fish from the stream even though he occasionally got his hands on one. Frustrated and weak from hunger, he just couldn't grab any fish firmly enough because it would slither from his hands and return to the stream. Worse yet, the light rain turned to a heavy rain and Uba was forced to seek shelter in a nearby cave.

How Effective Communication Is Influenced by Perceptions within the Sales Process
Ever wondered why you had a failure to effectively communicate your sales message? Read a short story about Forest Gump and how he and St. Peter had a similar challenge.

Prayer and purposeful action
I awoke early this morning to the sound of gentle rain falling and found myself immediately praying for more. This prayer came automatically during one of the most tragic weeks in Victoria’s history with the tragedy of the bush fires in many parts of our state. As a Victorian I have found myself upping my prayer quotient for rain for some time now, not just for the bush fires but for the many people whose lives are affected by the drought here and elsewhere. In addition to my prayers, like many families, my family and I have been doing our best to save water and change the size of our carbon foot print. Yet at times like this one can’t help but feel somewhat helpless and useless. All I felt I could do under the circumstances was to pray and give money.

How To Be the Leader of Your Own Destiny
Being a leader may be something you are not interested in being or doing. But if that is so, then you are shortchanging yourself and the world of the gifts you have to offer. Leadership is to be of service to self and others. We are all called to lead, but few answer the call. Why? One reason could be from the negative self-talk diminishing our hopes. Self-talk can keep one in the forest only seeing the trees without seeing the whole forest and all it has to offer.

Western Forests Set to Become Net Carbon Emitter
This is sort of eye-popping: Forests in the Interior West could soon flip from carbon sink to carbon source, forest experts say. The region's forests once absorbed and stored more carbon from the atmosphere than they released. But huge conflagrations -- like the 138,000-acre Hayman Fire in Colorado in 2002 and the Yellowstone fires of 1988, which scorched 1.2 million acres -- combined with a series of severe bark beetle infestations and disease outbreaks, have left large swaths of dead, decomposing trees in almost every major Western forest.

Buzzword Bingo and Acronym Update V2.011
R U (e.g. Are you) JASSD about JACD or do you have a case of JAID and JACBUS? Will RAID RAIN on your cloud parade? For those who like to keep up on buzzwords (for buzzword bingo) and acronyms, perhaps even FTW (e.g. For the Win), here are some old and new, fun and real ones to ponder.

My Advice to the Wise Investor
Visualizing the cycle in its entirety is the easiest way to grasp its predictability. But in order to see the pattern you have to zoom way out and see the forest through the trees, as it were, because one pulse in investment properties takes 12 to 15 years.

Content … Big, Beautiful, Ready to Sail
You know the environmentalist tale about a butterfly in the rain forest affecting.. Same is true of overwatering in Thailand affecting PC manufacturers, users around the globe. The Big 3 HD folks are slowly bouncing back (give em 3 quarters) but it made lots of folks think even harder about systems with solid state memory (SSDs). We all knew they were faster, lighter, cooler running, easier on batteries. Now the new Win ultrabooks and Mac Air are looking even better because what the heck you don't need all that big storage to take with you and the prices are looking pretty darn good. For the rest of your stuff...use the cloud. Us? We "need" the storage so you go right ahead and leave us behind.
