Tips on Writing Headlines
Headlines sell. Take a look at any magazine front cover and you will see a stack of headlines enticing you to read further. The evening news bulletin – you hear headlines at the top of the news before they go into content. Direct mail – the headline is the difference between reading and binning your letter. Email – the subject line will determine whether or not your mail gets opened.

Staying Current and Adjusting in the Retail Business
In the not too long ago past there were three main sources of live news; TV, newspaper and the radio. This older format allowed people to either look at or not look at what was being presented by the media. Nowadays, there are countless sources of live news, thanks to the Internet. So, with so many sources of news, I select only the subject matter I am interested in and sources that I find to be accurate; hence "selectively". It is obvious that we are in an economic crisis, which is old news. But it wasn't old news back in September or October of 2008. I knew that the economy was being steered into a storm, like nothing I had ever seen before.

Help! There Are Not Enough Hours in the Day
How many times do you hear yourself say, “I wish I had more hours in the day,” or “I don’t have enough time.” When you include sleep, can you honestly say that you’ve had a productive day and maximized all 1440 minutes allotted? Perhaps a quick glance at the evening news might turn into an hour. Maybe you planned on checking out one website, but find an interesting link and click on it, and then you continue clicking more links. Three secrets of how to use press releases to promote your business or web site.
News releases are no longer for the news. Press releases and news announcements now serve many different functions in addition to being source material for journalists to write about. But you don't need big news - little stories are also valuable. Yes, it is good to have BIG news that will motivate a writer, editor or journalist to write about your company, product or service, but that is no longer the only reason to create a press release. You don't need big news - just a good hook. Whether or not you use a public relations agency or do it yourself, here are three good reasons why you should try to write and distribute at least one press release every month.

Don't Become a Digital Dinosaur
Today's Internet means amateurs have more power than ever before. This is good news and bad news. The good news is that anybody can have their say. But the bad news is that anybody can have their say! If you still want to be "The Go To Guy/Gal" in your area of expertise, you'd better be out there, making a contribution. You can bet your life somebody is else doing it - on your turf, to your clients, in your market.

Get Over It
I think it prudent to start off by saying that I am an unabashed Eagles fan going all the way back to when I heard their first album and the song, “Take It Easy,” in 1972. It’s not just their country rock sound, but the lyrics to their songs. They tell stories which resonate for so many of us, most certainly for me. The other day, while reading the newspaper with my morning coffee and toast, another one of those news stories came on the radio -- you know the ones I’m talking about. The person blames someone else, something else, and everything else, for all their perceived hardship in life. It wouldn’t be the first time, or the last, and that I am quite sure of. Now normally, I would have just moved past all the blah, blah, blah and not given it another thought, but right after the news the Eagles song, “Get Over It” came on the radio.
