Who Inspires You To Be A Better Person
| |
| To me a hero is someone whom I admire, someone whom I aspire to be like. A woman named Mildred Norman, she was known as peace pilgrim. I read her story in Dan Millman’s book, Divine Interventions. Mildred was born in 1908 on a small chicken farm in New Jersey and she passed away over fifteen years ago.
I'm inspired to be a better person by her remarkable story... |

Why Can't a Woman be More Like a Man?
| |
| Professor Henry Higgins in the musical, My Fair Lady, laments, “Why can’t a woman be more like a man?” We all know women who have had some degree of success only to make the mistake of taking on male attributes. As Pat Hiem challenges in her book, Hardball for Women, “You don't have to act like a man to succeed in business for you will always be judged as a woman.” |

Being remarkable - how to have an extraordinary business
| |
| I see a lot of businesses. Some of them are remarkable and extraordinary when I first see them, but they don’t realise it, and don’t know how to tell people about the special . Some of them are rather dull, staid businesses, but by the time I’ve finished with them, they’ve got that extra something that gets people talking about them.
Setting out to make your business remarkable can have amazing benefits. If you’re struggling to attract customers, or to make enough money, you need to think again about how people see your business, or if they notice it at all.

8 Hot Franchise Business Opportunities For Women
| |
| There are only a handful of strictly "women’s franchises", and none of these are women-only, but these are opportunities where a woman can benefit from a strong franchise business and where the franchisor can hopefully benefit from a strong, entrepreneurial woman who signs on as a franchisee. |

What's It Take To Run A Successful Business?
| |
| I was reading an excerpt from a New York Times article that profiled a woman (Charlita) who opened a restaurant that failed after about 1 year. This is a woman who had spent 20 years in the legal field. A quote from the article that talked about her speaking to herself grabbed my attention:
"How could someone with a law degree and as smart as you blow it this big?"
I know that is a question that many small business owners ask themselves every day. |

Get me a woman
| |
| Some of you may be wondering why my blog is called “Sell like a woman”. First, Sell like a woman is not a feminist manifesto nor is it a male bashing exercise.
The creation of the title was inspired by an increasing body of research overseas showing that woman are often outperforming men when it comes to achieving real and sustainable results in sales and effective sustainable client relationships.
This led me to begin my research project and the book I am now writing, also called “Sell Like A Woman”. I have always been curious about women and their success in sales and wanted to explore the concept here in Australia and develop some Australian-based research as well. |

What Can I Do?
| |
| I’m sitting in Barnes and Noble eavesdropping on the people around me. Yes, I do things like that because I learn a lot. Here is the conversation at the next table,
Woman in green, in response to a comment about a boss: “So, what are you going to do?”
Woman in red, sighing heavily: “I don’t know. What can I do? I’m stuck waiting for him to make a decision. I hope he does it soon. I wish there was something I could do.” |

Why Coaching is the Way to Go in Team Management
| |
| When you hear the word “coach”, what comes first into your mind? Do you picture a basketball team with a man/woman shouting out directions? Or perhaps a football team with a man/woman pacing to and fro and calling out the names of the players? |

Living on Purpose
| |
| Three women are killed in a car crash on the way home from a weekend excursion. Their souls are immediately whisked off to heaven for an orientation session. Each one was asked, "When you are in your casket and friends and family are mourning your death, what would you like to hear them say about you?" The first woman said, "I'd like to hear them say that I was a great entrepreneur and a terrific mother." The second woman responded, "I would like to hear that I was a wonderful wife and school teacher who made a huge difference in our children of tomorrow." The last woman replied, "I would love to hear them say...LOOK, SHE'S MOVING!!!!!"

| Once I started to see everyone as “remarkable” in their own rights, I began to realize how amazing people are. No matter who you are, where you come from and what you do, you are simply and amazingly, “remarkable.” |
