| ”What I do is who I am” Chris Schenkel. Several years ago I heard about an ad placed in a sports magazine advising hunters how not to scatter their shots. The ad said, “For one dollar we’ll give you that information.” Many people sent their dollar and the advice was, “Just use one shot.” While the ad was deceptive, and I’m certain many of the respondents were irritated at being taken in, the advice was good.

The Integration of Innovation and Marketing Best Practices for Business Excellence Part1
| |
| During an economic down turn marketing and particularly funds for innovation and growth are amongst those hardest hit. As new, profitable innovations are owned by marketing, whilst their financing comes from the ability for the current business to generate profits, there is an intimate link between marketing and innovation.
Considering current business and innovation as distinct silos, managed in different ways by separate functions, may mean that the organization is missing a significant opportunity to maximize the skills, knowledge, resources and networks of the organization.
Innovation Expert, Kevin Weir and Marketing Excellence Practitioner, Phil Allen explore how companies can keep their marketing and innovation machines turning even in tough times by taking a more integrated approach to innovation and marketing. |

User interface, brand, content top considerations when choosing a new mobile phone
| |
| Though there are rumors that the iPhone will be coming to Verizon soon (something I'd love to see), I'm dubious it will happen (at least until 2011). I'd also love to see the pricey AT&T/iPhone data plan reduced, especially with these tough economic times. In lieu of either of these happening, it will be the sheer user friendliness of the iPhone that keeps it selling. |

Here's a great ROI
| |
| The business owner or executive who wants to work less and earn more must gain the knowledge of the leadership style to use to develop people and teams to be autonomous. That means that people need to be able to work together and solve problems on their own. And the problems that are the hardest for people to solve on their own are communication problems and conflict. This is the biggest impediment to teamwork. Thus coaching for a leader is necessary to incorporate an organizational strategy that will transform an organization over time from a control style of management to a participative style. |

Question: On a scale of 1 to 5, 1 being "always" and 5 being "never", how often do you stick to project schedules and keep commitments you make to clients?
I'm guessing that most of you would give yourself a 1 (or a 2). Of course you make commitments and keep them. What kind of professional would you be if you didn't? (I don't know about you, but many a service provider has made commitments to me and not kept them. A topic for another time...)

Great Places To Work For

| If we ask a random sample of employees in any organization what causes them to like to stay with their the organization, we will get tens of different reasons that are all valid, but vary to reflect the personal views of the respondents. While some employees will focus on tangible explicit motivators, others will focus more on intangible implicit ones. That's, too, is natural as people's motives are driven by their different needs which again vary from one person to the other.

Furthermore, survey respondents also indicated they would increase interactive marketing budgets by 60% by shifting funding away from traditional channels: direct mail (40%), Newspapers (35%) and Magazines (28%). The picture that is emerging here is one where marketers have high expectations on interactive marketing and expect to focus less on traditional channels. A lot will be riding on this reallocation of marketing budget -- so what will marketers have to do right to fulfill their hopes and expectations? |
