It’s Never Too Late!
In May of 1983, Helen Hill, age 95, received her high school diploma. She was absolutely ecstatic. Make Working at Home Work Well
Most retired baby boomers have tried their hands at a variety of home-based careers and businesses, from writing to consulting to even crafting, either full time or part time. Yes, more and more baby boomers are now choosing to work from home, either starting their own businesses or blending their post-retirement leisure time with their already established careers. This can be a daunting aspect that requires loads of direction, motivation and of course tweaking! So, if you’re contemplating jumping off the corporate ladder to start your own business, or if you have just retired and need that extra income, then here are a few tips to help make you work better from home:

Coaching the Entrepreneur
Entrepreneurs are some of the most challenging yet rewarding clients a professional coach may attract. They possess unique traits and if understood and appreciated can make for the most rewarding coach/client relationship. Many coaches fail to appreciate the unique qualities of an entrepreneur and how to approach the client relationship.

No leader is master of everything
One of the key failures senior executives and leaders tend to make early in their careers is acting with hubris. This affliction recurs with even the best who have had marvelously successful careers and begin to act without appropriate caution or due diligence. The best way to solve this problem is to look for outside input just to be sure your thinking is clear. The key is knowing when to seek input to avoid making bad decisions. In this article, I talk about how to get input from others and improve your decision making, and ultimately your success as a leader.

Advice from a Former Homeschooler: Considerations Before Homeschooling – Part Three of Four
Homeschooling can be a rewarding experience for both parent and child. But much has to be taken into consideration before you make a decision to do so. A reality check needs to be done as this is very hard work which requires consistency and being persistent. Children learn in different ways so you will have to determine how best to teach. Museums, concerts, music lessons, and many other outlets allow you to expand your school day as you will finish long before a traditional school day lasts. One on one or two or three is an excellent ratio for learning/teaching. Homeschooling may be hard work but it can be the most rewarding "job" you ever undertake. This is a Four Part Series.

Down with Networking!
Networking is probably one of the toughest and most important aspects of the job search..not to mention our careers and overall professional development. Unfortunately, it’s also one of the most hated, misunderstood and, consequently, poorly practiced areas in our careers, too, which is probably why many of us dread networking altogether. Still, like it or not, we simply must do it. It’s too difficult to land a job, an internship, or a new client today without networking.

Franchising: The 3 Best Passive Opportunities
Many of the candidates that I assist as a franchise consultant are looking for a complete overhaul in their professional careers. Some hate their jobs, while others feel they’re not compensated at the same level of their performance or for their true worth to the company. Or maybe they’re simply not living their passion. On the other hand, others are perfectly satisfied with their careers, but are looking for an investment vehicle or an opportunity that allows for passive ownership. In essence, they desire the ability to be an absentee owner. There are many very good passive franchise businesses available in a variety of categories. Here are just a few:

The Employee Mindset
The mindset of an employee is much different than that of the entrepreneur. With no one to tell you what to do and how to do it may be difficult but can also be very rewarding.

Secrets of Successful Careers - Discover Your Purpose & Strengths
Why are some people promoted to positions that bring out the best in them, while their peers, who are equally talented, get left behind in positions that do not allow them to flourish? Are there secrets to a rewarding and satisfying career in the corporate world? According to Gallup research, only twenty percent of people are working in jobs that provide them the opportunity to excel in what they do best. Since we spend so many of our waking hours working, shouldn't we try to make that time rewarding and fulfilling? Unfortunately, many of us feel trapped in mediocre careers and place the blame on poor company leadership and lack of opportunities. In these situations, daily work becomes a grind when we cannot apply our strengths into our work.
