The name L.L. Bean conjures up exciting images of adventure and explora tion. It was the store you would go to if you wanted to set off on an arctic expedition. It was the brand you would trust to get you through a night camping during a thunderstorm in the back woods of Yosemite. It was the company that was going to help you survive your most daring journeys.

Hurtling towards the next big birthday
A personal reflection coming up to birthday time. What prompted this article? Air-journeys provide invaluable thinking space. This article started life on a flight to Helsinki in early June. Three Rules for Relational Success
To create closeness and intimacy with other people-male or female, young or old, family or friends-apply the following three rules in any circumstance. 1. Be willing to trust that others will not hurt you. You must take the risk of being let down, ignored, manipulated, judged, or hurt. Even if it is risky, share your real feelings. The closer you are with someone, the more of you they can see. When you are close to someone's heart, or they to yours, you can see each other's concerns more easily. This can be risky when you don't know what they will do with what they see. That is where trust comes in.

This is great because writing one of these from memory is not only a daunting task, but a risky proposition. It’s risky because you run the chance of forgetting to include a piece of information that could be used by the reader. Something as simple to fill out as a market segment report could very well leave your business plan light or leave potential inve

The Wisdom of the Snapping Turtle
When I was 8 years old, during one of my journeys into the woods, I successfully captured a rather large snapping turtle. I immediately brought him back to my grandparents' house, selected an appropriate box, and made him my official pet. As I was being particularly quiet, my grandfather came onto the back porch to determine what mischief I might be pursuing. I showed him my prize turtle and explained that it was now my pet.
