Your Best is ALWAYS Good Enough
| |
| Do you remember that inner voice? You know - the one that we have to put a muzzle on, and train? The one that says that "we can do better", what we did was "not good enough", and even "you're a failure". Can you tell why that voice needs to be silenced? First and foremost, because it is wrong! We gain nothing from "beating ourselves" up about things. In fact, it is a serious waste of energy that could be spent building ourselves up. By the way, remember we are only supposed to be speaking to ourselves in an exemplary manner, if you're not, put that rubber band back on your wrist. |

Part 1 - After the ball is over
| |
| The ball is very definitely over. A good time was had by all but what a mess to cleanup! This cleanup has been compounded by the errant behaviour of some of the leaders and organizers of the ball: unbounded greed, ethical standards have been eroded, personal values have been overturned, virtues have been diminished to the point of ridicule, morality has been questioned, integrity has been ignored, trust forgotten and the meaning of life seems to have been lost. This cleanup will be a massive task. |

6 Tips on What To Do With Cards on Desktops, Shelves, and in Rubberbands!
| |
| What are you doing with all those business cards? I know I watch my friends and when I ask them about their system I get all kinds of responses. One will hand me a stack with a rubber band around them. Another will throw them in a pretty woven basket. Another just makes piles and piles and piles and piles on all the shelves in their office. What are YOU doing with all those business cards?

9th of the 10 Kurlan Sales Competencies That are Key to Building a Sales Culture
| |
| All of the stuff they have been doing, including the order in which they have been doing it, is usually wrong when we begin working with them - and permanently so. It's harder to stop doing the permanent stuff than it is to learn a more effective way. Think of an elastic band. The information from the new lesson stretches the band a lot. Then the natural tendency to do what has become permanent snaps the band back into its original shape. Solution? |

Underwater Mortgage Loan Modification: Just a Band-Aid?
| |
| If you're feeling trapped by your underwater mortgage and are having trouble making your payments, you may be tempted to start thinking that the modification program you heard about just might be for you.
We wish we could tell you differently, but that's just not the case. Most of the mortgage modifications out there aren't even a Band-Aid-they just prolong the pain; they don't heal it. And for the most part, you can't even get the Band-Aid.

Excel in Customer Service. Do you Want to Keep or MAKE History?
| |
| Recently I had the opportunity to stay a few days in Philadelphia. While there, a group of us decided to have dinner at a unique, historical, tavern. The atmosphere was haunted by the steps of George Washington as his group sauntered outside after dinner while the band set up to play at the ball celebrating the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Everything surrounding us had been replicated in great detail. Time was even taken to create period costumes for our "servers" of the meal. They were intent on keeping history. We were so excited and awed to be able to mingle and chat in such an inspiring room---and then came the "yesbuts".

Mine’s Bigger than Yours!
| |
| Is anyone else tired of all the hype marketing? I don’t mean all marketing. I’m talking about the hand-waving promises that are so unrealistic as to be laughable. Perfect teeth in 4 days, hair re-growth in a few applications or a perfect body in only 2 weeks thanks to some revolutionary rubber band. Stretch it 3 times a day and look like a fashion model in no time. Wow. |

Eye on the Ball
| |
| Like millions of people around the globe, I've been enjoying the World Series featuring my beloved St. Louis Cardinals, and at the same time, savoring a great football season.
We all marvel at the talent and skill of professional athletes but, sometimes, it is baffling why the most highly-trained and talented people anywhere will fail to catch the most routine ball that comes to them. These are players who, in many cases, are paid millions of dollars a year for the sole purpose of catching a ball. And yet, on a significant number of occasions, they drop a ball that could have been caught by a Little League player.
