Funny article in the SJ Merc about VCs turned entrepreneurs newly discovering that a) startups are hard work, and b) many VCs are clueless assholes. Nothing like being whacked in the head by reality to learn things that the rest of the startup world knew a long time ago.

Dinner at Ron's
I recently had the pleasure of participating in a dinner at Ron and Miri Gutman's home in San Francisco. Ron is the Founder & CEO of Wellsphere, and he and Miri were the perfect hosts. I had a BLAST cutting wood before the dinner. I went for a great run and came back to find a stack of wood, which Ron caught me chopping. It felt like when I was a kid and dad and I used to do it back home.

Habits: Good or Bad, they drive current performance
It is what people do and how they do it that creates the current state of an organization, especially those in leadership and management positions. If one does not question both what and how we do things, we will continue to do them the same way. Here are the steps to changing a habit or creating a new one. These same steps are related to learning a new task as well, and can be applied to developing a new way of thinking or attitude as well as to a physical action or behaviour. All new learning or change must go through this process.

What To Do When Your Company Network Is Hacked
I have written many articles and blogs warning about the cost to a company from a security breach. Ben Worthen, a staff reporter in The Wall Street Journal’s San Francisco bureau, wrote a great article “What to Do if You’ve Been Hacked” on September 26, 2011, where he has highlighted some key things to do. All the points are excellent but the #1 “to do” is to not ignore the attack and hope it goes away. It won’t!
