Start small and really network

I have attended my fair share of networking events and more often than not, I find that I do not get any quality time to network and begin the process of building viable business relationships for the future. I find the time allocated to speak with people and start to get to know them is often too short, coupled with too many other distractions. However, I have been on the look-out for other ways to really connect, understand, and collaborate with people who are interested in leveraging collective networks, especially in this current market.

Did someone ruin Foursquare for me yesterday?

I was at lunch at Japango with some of my Foundry Group gang yesterday. When I went to my house in Alaska last July, I took a Mac with me but left my PC at home. Ross bet me $100 that before the month was out I’d beg him to fedex my PC to me. He lost and I decided to use my winnings to take whoever was around yesterday out to lunch.

The Sandwich: I Won\\\'t Bite

| In \"Management 101,\" you were probably taught to tell a person something difficult by using the \"sandwich\" approach where you say nice things to the person before and after the difficult part. The theory behind the sandwich approach is that if you couch your negative implication between two happy thoughts, it will lessen the blow and make the input better tolerated by the person being coached. The problem is that this method usually does not work, and it often undermines the credibility of the person using it.
