The Office Bully
We have all come into contact with one at some time or another but there is nothing that causes more angst in the workplace than the activities of a bully. Strutting around, loud mouthed, opinionated, full of bluster and of course always right. If a situation arises in which there may be (God forbid) the possibility of error – then the shouting begins and it is all YOUR FAULT. The fault cannot possibly lie with the person who is always right (the bully). He, or she, must keep control of the situation. To do otherwise is to admit a failure, an error, and this cannot be. Result? Unhappiness all round.

We’re Both On the Same Side
One of my favorite stories concerns a young lad who was confronted by three bullies with violence in mind. Quickly, the little guy drew a line on the ground, stepped back several feet, looked the biggest bully in the eye and said, "Now, you just step over that line." Confidently, the big bully stepped over the line, preparing to commit mayhem on the little guy. Quickly the little fellow grinned and said, "Now we're both on the same side."

How to handle workplace bullying.
Bullying is an activity which most people associate with their schooldays. The playground bully is a well-established stereotype. Sadly, bullying does not disappear when you walk out the school gates for the last time. Work bullies aren’t much different than school yard bullies. They victimise people they perceive to be weaker and smaller. To feel better about themselves, they try to make others feel insignificant. It can be a real shock to people when they find themselves, as an adult, being bullied by another adult. Unfortunately it is an all too common complaint in the workplace.
