Asset - Thinking about the Needs of Others

On ABC’s Primetime segment “What Would You Do?” we watch as many men and women walk by individuals in their time of need. We rationalize in our minds that we should not get involved in other people’s business. We allow fear to grip and paralyze us from taking some type of action. No matter what the situation we must use wisdom in dealing with it. However, we can do something can’t we? It is pure selfishness on our part if we see someone being abused in some way or hurting and not do anything about it. We can at least do something.

Remember That the People You Address Are Selfish

Remember that the people you address are selfish, as we all are. They care nothing about your interest or your profit. They seek service for themselves. Ignoring this fact is a common mistake and a costly mistake in advertising. Ads say in effect, buy my brand. Give me the trade you give to others. Let me have the money. That is not a popular appeal.

Business Relationships

The success of the West suggests that people are motivated by their own concerns. Thus, WIIFU (What's In It For Us) is still toxic to business and society, including corporate culture. A WIIFM (What's In It For Me) or WIFFU based culture will eventually produce selfish, grumbling, complaining people who are concerned only about themselves (or their own group—company, department, etc.) and who essentially distrust and discount others. The self-directed philosophical mentality fails to provide win-win scenarios and will eventually implode or collapse because of its failure to take others into consideration. There is a better answer....

A Business Network Makes You Powerful – Article 4 of 8

The most powerful networkers I have met have learned the art of genuinely helping others. This art is called many things; in Business Network International (“BNI”) they call it “givers gain.” This is a very important concept if you truly want to get the most out of networking and day-to-day living. While helping others is an obvious key to success, many networkers are not very conscious about how well they maintain the ratio between their giving and receiving. Many are downright selfish.

- Business Development Training - How to Beat the Fear of Meeting People

Recently I presented a business development training session at a conference. The audience were managers from all across Australia. I gave them a 2-minute break and asked them to get up and talk amongst themselves. It can get scary when we have to meet new people. But – from a business development perspective – it is extremely selfish when we are not brave enough too reach out to people we don’t know.

Just Because You Are Impatient Does NOT Mean I Have To Move Any Faster

Have we evolved into beings that have become so selfish and self absorbed that we have forgotten about our own self control? The ability to keep your mental, emotional and physical being, in check, requires self-control. The inability to do so is a sign that you are "out of control." When you easily lose your self control, you will most certainly fire off outbursts of anger, temper and blame on others.
