Citi Foundation Creates $11.2m Program with SEEP Network to Strengthen Trade Associations
| |
| The Citi Foundation will work with the Small Enterprise Education and Promotion Network (SEEP) to create the 3-year USD 11.2 million Citi Network Strengthening Program. The program will include 12 major microfinance trade associations and their members.
The program’s goal will be to improve the integration of microfinance into the mainstream economies of developing countries. This includes improving participating trade associations’ ability to develop products and services which meet their clients’ needs. In addition, the program seeks to “enhance the industry’s infrastructure, introduce higher standards of management and governance, and promote the vital role of microfinance in providing the poor with access to financial services.” |

The First Steps in Starting an Association
| |
| The most fundamental part of living in any free society is the ability to organize to form groups of people with similar interests. Often these are called Associations although there are a whole host of other names used for them including: organizations, federations, alliances, institutes, guilds, societies, foundations, clubs, congresses, coalitions, centers, networks, unions, chambers, or bureaus. Regardless of the name they all have the same goal to serve the needs of their members. Associations find their strength in numbers often sharing the common interests of industries, professions, charities, hobbies, or philanthropic action. |

No - Your Number 1 Tool to Succeed
| |
| Did you know that the word NO is the most important word in the English language for people who are determined to succeed?
We did several workshops on living your natural genius for larger corporations over the past few years. Every participant was asked for his or her opinion of the words YES and NO.
The results weren’t very surprising. Most people have positive associations with the word YES and negative associations with the word NO.
This is a very common perception, but does it really represent the truth?
If you ask me, NO it does not.
The ability to say NO to discouragement, distraction and other negative influences is essential for being successful, especially for smart people. |

Why We Need to Create Associations of Success
| |
| To thrive in any entrepreneurial venture, we need to create associations of success. Most of us have heard the saying that we are the average of the 5 people with whom we are most closely associated. Your associations of success will help you follow through with your plan and achieve your goals. You can have the greatest vision and put together the most complete plan of achieving that goal. However, being surrounded by only negative and unsupportive people will derail your plans of making your goal and vision a reality. |
