How to Go From Good Selling that Worked to Good that No Longer Works Back to Good That Works

Good selling is simply doing what works. However, sometimes what worked in sales or selling yesterday is barely working to or even worse not even working today. This change of events happens in all industries be them service, distribution or manufacturing. Your goal as a sales professional is to get back to good that worked if you really want to increase sales.

The Art of Distribution

One of the important insights that the Startups 2006 panel hammered home was the importance of distribution for consumer-facing startups. (By the way, an astounding 13,000 people watched this video during the first week.) Many people use the word “distribution” as if it were a tactic when in fact it is a goal. Any bozo can say the word as if it’s a magic bullet; the test is the ability to achieve distribution. Here are my thoughts.

“Strategic Marketing Tips From Your Strategic Thinking Business Coach”

Using strategic thinking in developing your marketing plan means you understand the needs and desires of your clients and customers, and you show them how your product/service satisfies those needs. You must know: what value your product or service offers & what benefits it provides; what differentiates you & your product/service from the competition; who are your stakeholders, which may include: your suppliers, your bank, your subcontractors or vendors, your associates, your staff, your clients or customers, and of course the general public; where your clients & customers are located geographically; and what are the most effective distribution channels to deliver your product or service? Your strategic thinking business coach provides the following ten (10) strategic marketing tips to use in developing your strategic marketing plan.

Tracking Your Media Coverage

Your press release is ready to go. You have decided which audience you want to target and determined that your release is going to newspapers, magazines, internet wire services, and television and radio stations. You decided to pay the Acme Marketing firm to professionally write your press release. As a part of their writing the press release, they will also do the distribution for you. This saves you time and money. But how will you know if the release was picked up by any of the media outlets on your distribution?

Developing Sales & Marketing Materials for Overseas

| You’ve selected a target market overseas, and found a distribution partner, who has now asked you for some sales collateral materials to help him or her market your product or service successfully.
As you put together your brochures and sales sheets, you’ll want to keep a few things in mind to ensure that your printed marketing materials are culturally and linguistically correct. |

Why Salespeople Fail and How You Could Have Predicted It

The companies at which this salesperson had prior success were with brands you know well, that everyone in the world already carried, with established distribution. All he had to do was grow what had already been established by others before him. After all, how much new distribution had to be created for Oscar-Mayer Wieners?

Palms Shopping Mall, Changing Retail Distribution in Nigeria

South Africa owned, Nigerian managed 'The Palms Shopping Mall' launched in 2005 is a major contributor to changing retail distribution and ultimately the retail experience for Nigerians, particularly the growing middle class to affluent. The Mall's opening provided significant channels of distribution to allow manufacturers reach buyers who are ready and able to spend.

A Glance at Payroll - Strong Business Credit

Initially, managing two or three employees may seem relatively easy. You may even be able to handle the tax aspects on your own with the right amount of research and advice. However, as your business grows, you may find it more and more difficult to manage the distribution of funds-as well as the calculations involved in taxes and other deductions-to such a degree that you may wish to invest in a new employee or even an outside service to help you manage payroll services.

Reinventing the Partnership with the Manufacturer

Distribution will always play a role in the supply channel. Manufacturers just can't do what distribution does effectively. But, distributors must recognize that change is upon them. They too must adjust to the evolution taking place in the supply chain. Today's distributors have the opportunity to reinvent the relationship and create a model that is mutually beneficial to both parties.

Why we should take customer service more seriously

I propose that customer service is an assertive act, a proactive role that has an incredible impact on the attraction and retention of customers. It represents the ‘front door’, the daily face of a business, ideally setting the scene for productive, healthy relationships. I propose that customer service can often be a much harder, more gruelling role than selling; dealing with the many variables that confront a business, sorting out problems, providing advice, answering technical/distribution/supply questions, coordinating and liaising with various departments, contacting suppliers and, dealing with crises; all the while being polite, friendly, effective and efficient on a consistent daily basis.

Successful Change and Improvement Needs Balanced Improvement Planning

As Yogi Berra would say, "It was déja vu all over again." Five years earlier I had conducted a few introductory service/quality improvement workshops for the senior management group and head office support people of a large distribution company. Performance and feedback surveys were conducted and reviewed during these and follow up workshops. The company clearly had problems with sagging morale and customer service, rising costs from inefficient processes and quality problems, and low innovation levels.
