| Particular colors spark certain emotions and feelings within all of us. Wearing Your Heart On Your Vest - Manners and Etiquette

Jorge was a young construction worker, sitting near the front of the bus. Natasha was an older lady confined to a wheelchair. She asked him about his orange safety vest, "Where do you get those?" The vests are highly reflective and are easily seen by oncoming automobile traffic. Natasha thought that a similar vest might protect her as she crossed the street from the bus stop to her house in the evening. Jorge stood up, took the vest off, and presented it to Natasha as a gift.

Appearance

Okay - I admit it - this one is extreme. Several years ago before I realized that my body retains ice cream, my wife and I were in our favorite ice cream parlor. An unusual-looking young man walked through the front door. In my lifetime I have never seen anything like it. His hair was sticking out in every direction and came to a point at the top so sharp that it was dangerous. He had every imaginable color represented - green, purple, orange, red, lavender, black - it was really a sight to behold!

Marketing is about Differentiation

Without a differentiated service, your service becomes a commodity because you become subject to the market, and vulnerable to someone else with a lower price. To command a higher price for your service and maintain superior profit margins, you must differentiate your service and provide more “perceived” value.

One Man And His Word

About five years ago, my father passed away. I still think about him almost every day, but especially this time of the year when his anniversary rolls around. He was well known and liked in the community where he lived with my mother in New Jersey. Fiercely proud of both his German and Irish ancestry, he always walked in the Annual West Orange St. Patrick’s Day Parade wearing a green tie and a German hunting hat. With my sister and brothers, I will sometimes reminisce about the small idiosyncrasies that made him our dad...

Would you get A Tattoo of the General Motors’ Logo?

| When was the last time you were really excited about the customer service you received? A recent survey showed that 44% of people rate the customer service they usually receive as dull and bland.
Most customer service experiences are, well ok, and we unusually come away somewhat satisfied from the experience. This is all well and good, but most of your competitors are already doing this. To stand out from the competition you need to demonstrate customer service on a dramatically different level: service that is anything but bland and dull! Think Disney, Harley Davidson, or Apple.

How Good do You Feel?

Sitting on the side of my pool with my feet dangling in the water, bright blue sky over head with whispy white clouds like tiny puffs of smoke drifting along; the sun making my skin feel alive and tingling. As I peel an orange picked off of my tree, I think to myself “How bad is life?” On a scale of things, between this and sitting hours on the M25, yeah not much competition really!

Persistence Goes the Distance

| In 1914 Thomas Edison's factory in West Orange, New Jersey, was virtually destroyed by fire. Although the damage exceeded $2 million, the buildings were insured for only $238,000 because they were made of concrete and were thought to be fireproof. Much of Edison's life work went up in smoke and flames that December night. At the height of the fire, Edison's 24-year-old son, Charles, searched frantically for his father. He finally found him, calmly watching the fire, his face glowing in the reflection, his white hair blowing in the wind.
