Creating a Billion Dollar Baby Empire: How Julie Aigner-Clark Achieved Success
| |
| “There was nothing on the market that I felt was any good, so I decided to make something myself.” That was Aigner-Clark’s reasoning for starting her now wildly successful series of children’s educational videos, Baby Einstein. While it might be a simple logic, her formula for success was far from it. How did this stay at home mom become a household name with families across America? |

Zzzzz’s – Catch some!
| |
| When you are under stress and duress, sleep patterns can often be disrupted. Lack of sleep leads to fatigue and wear and tear on the immune system, which in turn contributes to a heightened stress response. This article is excerpted from Julie Christiansen's new book, Stress Less in 27 Days, and will provide you with tips on how to use sleep to help restore your body to its natural baseline state. |

The "Video Role Playing Is Counterproductive" Myth
| |
| Many sales managers and trainers feel that video role playing sales presentations and prospecting methods is just too stressful for their sales representatives to be an effective training tool. On the other hand, in most sports, video taping of an athletes performance is a standard training procedure. Today, video tapes play a major role in an athlete's conditioning by most coaches and managers. |

3 Surprising Mathematical Principles That Every Persuasive Marketer Must Know
| |
| Having a perception is different from understanding a perception.
Imagine you are standing in front of a box of sand. If you start pouring water into that sand, it will form a particular pattern and start flowing along those particular lines. Even if you pour in more water, it will essentially continue to flow along only in that pattern.
In the same way, the brain is a self-organizing system. When information goes in, it flows only in a particular pattern.
When you face the kind of problem that you cannot even begin to explain how to explain it, it means that it is not a problem of logic. It is a problem of perception.
You have to go back and look into your perceptions, not logic, because, as Gödel’s theorem has shown us, logic has flaws. |

What Is A Computer LANGUAGE
| |
| A computer by itself only knows how to move numbers around, do calculations or make logical decisions based on the results. It knows nothing at all about customers, invoices, stock, suppliers or accounts. It is the assumptions made by the logic of a computer program that determine what each piece of data represents and the symbols used to express that logic are
known as a "computer language." |

The Social Entrepreneur as CEO/Business Leader
| |
| Towards the end of my corporate career almost 20 years ago there was much talk about how human resources executives would soon be the new breed of CEO’s. This hasn’t eventuated!
Accountants, lawyers, and engineers still dominate CEO ranks. In many cases this means logic overrides intuition, in personal and organisational decision making, rather than the ability and willingness to find the relationship harmony point between logic and intuition.
Could a change be in the air? Human resources executives will probably still not become the new breed of CEO, however my sense is that Social Entrepreneurs will. |

Wag More, Bark Less
| |
| I confess, this title was not made up by me. My wife saw a bumper sticker with this sentiment and shared it with me. I think the basic wisdom in the phrase is great and wish there was a way to get more managers to understand the simple logic here. Why is it that some bosses feel compelled to bark when wagging is a much more expedient way to bring out the best in people? |
