Decisions based on emotion = BAD for business
In recent years, there has been a rise in discussion and research around what makes a good leader good. From those discussions, a new field of study and measurement has arisen,. It is called Emotional intelligence, or EQ. (Don't ask me why it isn't EI, but it's not.) In simple terms, EQ is the ability to know and control your emotions, and the ability to recognize and empathize with the emotions of others. For the expertrs in this field, please, don't get your feathers ruffled. Defining EQ is not the point. The point is, emotion does NOT belong in business, and often leads to really bad decisions. Emotion seems to play the biggest role in family owned business where family members are either co-owners or employees. This article talks about how to handle these situations, whether you are on the verge of wading into one, or already there.

Using Balanced Scorecard
This tells how to use a Balanced Scorecard as a Performance measurement tool

Never Leave a Meeting Feeling Good
Do your meetings result in everyone feeling good after they leave? Does very little get done in your meetings? If so, your meetings function like most, and they are probably worthless! Most often leaders are concerned with there being too many meetings, or meetings being too long, or some other wrong measurement. I would like to suggest that you change your measurement systems. For example, a good leading indicator that something important is being discussed is conflict. Other indicators of good meetings are the number of decisions made and the number of people held accountable for decisions made at the prior meetings. These are real indicators that your meetings are worthwhile. If you have a really good meeting, then everyone leaves feeling uncomfortable because there is so much more to be done, and they have a stake in it!

  • Measure the percentage of MQLs that become SALs and SALs that become SQLs.

How Are You Going To End 2011?
The final quarter is upon us – so how are we doing? Measurement equals knowledge. Without measurement we don't know where we are. So let's get out the real measuring tool. Let's put on our glasses. Let's stop with any stories. Let honestly and straight forward ask the question. How did we do through the first 3 quarters – budget verses actual? Goals against achievements? Plan against reality.

Organizational Measurement and Feedback Pathways and Pitfalls (Part Two)
Get teams to develop their own measures. Make sure they're broad, balanced, and simple. Get the measurement points as close and as immediate to the activities being performed as possible. Move your team and organization to a 360-degree performance feedback system - starting with you. 360-degree feedback involves gathering data and performance perceptions from the people reporting to you, the people you serve in the customer/partner chain, your suppliers, and the manager(s) you report to. Your role in helping others on your team move to this approach, is that of a coach. You will provide your performance feedback as one of the many sources for your team and individual members.

Measure and It Shall Improve
Without measurement your advertising investments are entirely faith-based which leaves you to make decisions based what you believe rather than what you know. In this article we will explore the basics of traffic measurement.
