Finding Work-Life Balance in the New Year
| |
| At this time of year I often find myself thinking that I didn't spend as much time with my family and friends as I would have liked. It's just so easy to get caught up in the day to day hustle of things that need to be done. You may be feeling the same way: you were so busy with meetings, email, voice mail, and reports that some of the more important things in life got put on the back burner - often with a promise that you would get to it tomorrow, or next week. Well now is your chance, as you're setting your goals for the upcoming year, to bring focus to developing greater balance in your life. |

Stresses in the Workplace and How to Combat Same
| |
| Stress is the body’s reaction to outside influences, demands or strains. In a sense, the body is revved up to respond to a threat or a challenge.
Everybody experiences stress occasionally and this is unlikely to have any lasting impact unless the experience is particularly traumatic. Such acute stress can occur as a result of actual or threatened violence. Staff employed in banks, post offices, public transport, the health service and other occupations are at risk of experiencing acute stress as a result of robberies, assaults and violence.
Every precaution needs to be taken to protect workers in vulnerable situations against such risks. Where incidents do occur, procedures should exist, including independent counseling where necessary, to minimise the long–term impact. |

Analyzing And Assessing The Business
| |
| One of the most important steps you will take towards buying a business will be to make a sound judgement on the viability and true worth of what you are buying. In a sense, you must play the part of a good detective and uncover the truth about the business you are buying. The first assessment you must make in evaluating a business for sale is to review its history and the way
it operates. It is important to learn how the business was started, how its mission may have changed since its inception and what past events have occurred to shape its current form.

How to Properly Develop Relationships Using Social Media
| |
| How many times have you cringed after receiving a message from someone you just connected with immediately pitching his or her opportunity? We’ve all heard them tell you that they have the best compensation plan, they’re going to be the next billion-dollar company, and that their juice, lotion or potion is the cure for cancer. They even create a sense of urgency by telling you that if you don’t sign up by midnight, you’ll lose out on a once in a lifetime opportunity. Sound familiar?

Common Sense and Success
| |
| We are all born with five senses: sight, sound, touch, taste and smell. These senses help us navigate our way through the world. They bring us delight in small things. They also warn us when danger threatens. However, I believe that we all have a sixth, and underused sense, our common sense. Your common sense helps you make the right decision in ambiguous situations -- but only if you use it. When I tell people that I'm the Common Sense Guy, people often come back with Will Rogers' saying, "Common sense isn't all that common." I disagree. I think that we all have innate common sense. It's a natural gift, just like our five other senses. We don't always use it though. If you are willing to let your common sense guide you today, you can use it as a guide tomorrow, the next day, next week and next month. |

The Invisible Close Sales Nugget: How Can I Present My Offer Without Sounding Like I'm Pitching Something?
| |
| You see, it all starts with your offer and clearly understanding the unique transformation that comes from investing with you. If you are clear about your offer and the outcome your clients will enjoy, then when you present it, it won't sound like pitching. It will sound like an extension of your contribution and content. But if you don't present your offer clearly, it's not going to sound authentic or enticing to your prospects no |

The Joys of being Responsible or Discipline Means Freedom (and some warm fuzzies)
| |
| The joys of being responsible. Discipline means freedom. They do sound rather contradictory, don't they? But if you gently focus on the rewards of discipline, rather than any sense of stingy self denial, all will make sense. Working with a very broad definition of "rewards" will also help. |

FaceBook Follies
| |
| From a purely business perspective, FaceBook makes no sense to me at all. Lemmings the world over are signed up by the millions because to exist in business, it seems mission-critical to be on FaceBook! Really? Apparently, the primary user base is still kids, students, families, budding entrepreneurs and befuddled geniuses... Those demographics should sound the "zero ROI" marketing alarm for any intelligently run business. Sophos's "Security Threat Report 2010" polled over 500 firms, 60% of whom responded that they believed that FaceBook was the social network that posed the biggest threat to security. That's aside from the billions of dollars of lost productivity! |
