There’s a heightened interest in branding these days. For small businesses, it can be one of the most important marketing programs of all. As you launch (or relaunch) a branding campaign, take a look through these strategic marketing questions and see if your brand meets them. Then, use the attached checklist to spot branding opportunities…

Coaching to Success in 2006 and Beyond
2006 is well underway and each day presents opportunities for each and every one of us to be successful. But do we recognize the opportunities for success? Do we act upon the opportunities for success that are recognized? How does one become skilled in recognizing, seizing and acting upon opportunities for success? One very powerful answer: “through coaching.”

The 5 Must-Have Items for a Successful Work-at-Home Business
You've picked the perfect spot in your home for your new Work-At-Home office. It's a quiet and cozy corner, with a desk and a cordless phone. You've just finished setting-up your new computer and you think you're ready to start looking for home-based work. In your haste to grab the spot between the picture window and the Monet, you didn't notice that you forgot a few home-office essentials. No home-based business should be without the following five items.

How to Find More Sales Opportuntities without Cold Calling
The two biggest problems for most companies right now, in this economy, are delayed closings and not enough new opportunities. I've tackled delayed closings, so today, with a little help from my friends, I'll tackle not enough new opportunities. I mentioned in my last post that (most of) you need three times more opportunities than ever before to make up for the late stage opportunities that aren't closing right now.

Downturn boosts freelance opportunities in U.S.

Blind Spots
In my classes and consulting work on leadership, I often discuss the concept of a blind spot where the worst leaders are often blissfully unaware of their problems. My own observation in numerous organizations is that this is abundantly true. Hr Managers and subordinates are often frustrated at not being able to communicate how leaders undermine the very cause they wish to pursue due to this blindness. Daniel Goleman, who invented Emotional Intelligence, observed that leaders who are most deficient in EI are the ones who have the biggest blind spot. They simply cannot see themselves as others do, so they are deceived into thinking incorrect thoughts about how they are coming across. How can you remove the blind spot of a leader who has low Emotional Intelligence? My own ideas on this topic are contained in this article.

V is for (ad)Vantages
In business, one of your key roles is to spot opportunities that can give you the advantage and help you stay ahead of the competition. Sometimes, it can be hard to tell what these opportunities are as they’re not always obvious, but it’s important that you’re aware of them rather than letting them pass you by.

Hitting the Sweet Spot
Anyone who’s ever played golf knows about the ‘sweet spot’. It’s that favoured spot on the clubface – hit the sweet spot and it feels good, you’re in control of the ball and that birdie is yours for the taking. If you don’t hit that spot, it doesn’t feel right, you spend your time hacking in the rough and before you know it you’re in a bad patch.

Legitimate Online Business Opportunities-Do They Exist?
If you are like most people, you have probably thought about starting a business and since you've heard of people starting a business online, you might be wondering if there are legitimate online business opportunities around. To answer your question, yes they do exist. In fact, there are many people making enough money online to replace their daytime job and you can too. That's not to say that there aren't frauds out there because they do exist. But, with the help of the internet, these businesses are easier to spot than they were years ago. The best way to avoid being scammed is to listen to your instincts.

Landing a promotion at work– and all of the benefits that come along with it, including bigger salaries and better opportunities – can seem more elusive than getting a spot in the popular group at school.
